This possibly comes under accessories and I didn't want to post it the home-made floor plans development thread.
Okay I'm pimping a product here: It's not released under the Inked Adventures banner but through Escape Velocity Gaming since they came up with the concept, wrote the adventure ideas to go with it and did most of the laying out and some recolouring. I am merely zee artist *modest* ;) but I receive a nice percentage in affiliate royalties or something and one day I'll be able to by a whole new pencil case with the profits. Slideshow: If the slide show above doesn't work you can see the photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/inkedadventures/sets/72157624668943326/ (not the best quality - again taken with a phone camera - cos I'm never in the right place with the right technology at the right time!) Follow link for full description: The product: http://bit.ly/vexingsands By the way, the preview section on the RPGNow page includes the bonus tiles / recoloured art - not my exact originals (which are still in the pack, but the recoloured ones are good also) and keeps hidden some of the best bits in the main pack - like the fort - this is so that the customer is given the best bits only when he hands over da cash) One nice feature of the pack is the option to have an overlaid grid or not. The desert blanks/background/battlemat sheets were my idea. *beams* (Apologies if some members have seen this already) |
Excellent work, again :) Also, a perfect choice now that Dark Sun is getting revamped for 4E D&D, Im sure a lot of people would be interested in modular terrain for their starter campaigns in this lovely evil sandy world :)

Thanks, Fenryz. It's funny that you should mention Dark Sun. Will Pfaff (author / director - Escape Velocity Games) was very eager to rush the final product out for August, something to do with WotC launch dates, I believe. Perhaps he is as shrewd as he is cunning ... I've read a few reviews of the Deserts of Athas set (Google image search), which seems alright - I'm not sure about the 3D elements, so I if we stay cheap, maybe a few DMs will opt for some old-school style art for their dunes. |
Oh, and Wotc do have one more game coming up - the Good Old GammaWorld!
Might as well say it right away, Im completely sold on Postapocalypse stuff. The desert is clearly usable in a Fallout inspired environment, so its a doublewin :) Add some tiles with metalshrapnel and more contemporary ruinparts, and voila, its a GammaWorld scene. Im not trying to destroy whatever free time you have left Mr Babble, Im just suggesting multiple use of the nice desert :) |

Great stuff as always dude
Having it double up as a Post Apocalypse setting it a great idea any plans for an expansion set with wrecked vehicles ect? Also could work for a Lovecraftian or Indiana Jones type Egyptology setting with a few statues and pillars added, allowing you to tie it back in with a dungeon setting

Most intriguing.
Post apocalyptic and pulp? Adaptive bonus tiles or whole new packs. Hmm. I may have to confer with Mr. W Pfaff on this ... |
Toss in a landspeeder and some Banthas and you have the outskirts of Mos Eisley as well :)
