Just got hold of the new Elysian Venator, possibly their nicest kit yet.
It goes together really well.
The wheels are especially nice, they've put the sprues on the back of the tyres where it can't be seen, they've put a lot of thought into the kit.
I plan to paint this in a desert scheme of some sort, I have some nice savanah grass mat that will do nicely for the base, it'll look good creeping through the long grass on patrol
I do like this vehicle, it just doesn't look imperial to me. Looks a little to sleek compared to most imperial guard issue stuff. I guess its a bit of specialist kit though. I'd love to get my hands on just those wheels to use on ork vehicles for gorkamorka though!
This is the Venator finished, I painted it in a mix of Tamiya and Valejo paints.
I like the way this came out, its dirty but still has colour.
The weathering is done with a mix of tamiya X19 smoke and valejo tank German tank grey heavily watered down for a pin wash around the detail.
The tyres were reverse dry brushed, the wheel was painted in earth colour and dry brushed in a tyre black, which picks out the treads where the tyres make contact and stay black.
These pics are of the venetor based, the grass is a mat from a company called Treemendus, the wooden base was bought at my local hobby store for a couple of ponds.

Once again your works blur the line between Sci-fi and Modern, although I know this a 40k vehicle armed with twin Las-Cannons your style makes it look like something I'd see on the news patrolling the streets of Baghdad. Great work!

Awesome. Really like the reverse drybrushing on the tyres, going to have to give that a try on a few models I think. I look forward to seeing even more of your stuff. Do you do modern/historicals too by any chance? post 'em up if you do!
Many thanx guys.
I think the current conflics are acting in some ways as an inspiration for a lot of the forgeworld stuff at the minute, but that said WW I plays a big part too, especially with the krieg guys.
I think it has a lot to do with the fact a lot of their designers are modellers in the wider sense as well as games orientated.
Thats what I've been doing, using the techniques I use in my other modelling in the Sci-fi stuff I do.
Thats where the reverse dry brushing comes from.
I like the Baghdad vision, but I thought it was more like a Supacat Jackal used in Afganistan.
I do paint other war gaming stuff, I do flames of war stuff, but I'm not a gamer, I tend to build what I like, I lose interest when I have to paint troops for the game.
I shall Post some of my collection though.
