The Old Prisoner

The crazy old man dressed in rags, with a long grey beard, who's been locked up and left alone in the same cell for years, surviving by eating the vermin that crawl among filth that covers the cell floor – it's a fantasy archetype. So I thought it was about time I had one for my dungeon, this model is made from a mixture of parts from Mantic Ghouls and Citadel Plastic Empire flagellants and was inspired by the illustration for entry 36 of The Warlock of FireTop Mountain.

For a change I won't ramble on about what paints I used, but I will pass along 1 quick tip: buy flesh colours from as many different paint ranges as you can find and try to use a different one each time you paint a human figure – this will give your miniatures a subtle variety of skin colours and will look more realistic when they are stood together in a group or unit

He looks good!  The Old Prisoner is a great concept.  I've seen characters just like that in a variety of works of fiction and such.  He could also be a marooned pirate or sailor.  I think of books like Robinson Crusoe or Treasure Island.

Man this is sweet  I'm almost tempted to make a bunch of them myself, hell there's plenty of shambling beggars around Bath at the moment to model them on.

One of those beggers is an ex Royal marine that was captured by the Eraqs and tourchered. He is hard as fuck. Be very careful. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Thanks guys, I'm considering doing a few more of these – maybe a chain-gang of slave-miners

That's an excellent idea,  I hadn't thought of using him as a cast-away - I always try to find as many uses for my NPC type miniatures as possible.
Beggars are also another possibility ...

yea it's sad how people end up on the streets in Bath, one beggar I talked to was an astronaut until the government took his powers away.

Cool story bro, needs more leprosy and shit.

But srsly, it's cool. I demand a chain-gang for the mines!

The illustrated bits there need to be combined into a "FIGHT THE POWER" poster.
