The Deep Eyes Squad- a preview of my storm troopers

have any of you UK guys ever been to Partizan in newark?? there are two conventions a year and while it is more for historical you can get LOADS of scenery and specialist models there.

i went to the september one and on an impulse bought a box of non-GW sci-fi minis. Starship Troopers veterans to be precise- like the normal M.I but with some white metal upgrades. so far i only have one fully painted but to be honest he looks wicked awesome. here are some preliminary pics of the Deep Eyes sqaud ( i just have to call them that 'cos of the tri-lens helmets they wear). They cost me £10 for 8, and two died in the experimentation process (i keep stopping on ones legs under my hobby table).
they came with the option of building the as normal M.I with visored helms and a nice plastic glass screen or the white metal Tri-Lens heads i ended up using. the kit also had a white metal sniper rifle which i may well put to good use and loads of pouches and extra armour plates. if you see one grab the bugger- they are rare but not too rare- iv seen two boxes this year at two different games fairs.

im not a massive fan of Storm Troopers for millions of reasons but it woul be nice to be able to make CSM's sweat when 6 rappel out of my valkyrie right down their chimney.

next to marbo you can see they are a TINY bit off scale as their legs and arms are longer and thinner but its not really that obvious, especially when they are painted up. it sort of fits in with the fluff too as they are supposed to be more than a normal man but less than a SM.

the current squad is 6 strong, 1 sgt. with his Hot Shot gun and a DKoK chain sword (may change), 4 storm troopers and one more with a melta gun. iv also added several IG belt puches and bayonnette frogs etc. to make them more in there with my army but with a DA green and Snakebite brown colour scheme like everyone else they fit in lovely.

more pics of painted troops to follow. once the whole squad is painted they will look awesome.

Re: The Deep Eyes Squad- a preview of my storm troopers

Nice Work!

I’ve often looked at the Mongoose Publishing’s Starship Troopers figures and wondered how they’d fit in with other ranges … and of course it would be awesome to have a swam of Arachnid Bugs

Any I look forward seeing your MI/storm troopers in their finished form, they look awesome so far!

As for conventions, I havn’t been to any for a while now, but I am looking to organise for a bunch of tLatD members to goto a convention and meet up, maybe get some T-shirts printed for us to promote the forum

Yea my gaming group (and thus a bunch of tLatD members) live in Wiltshire, my co-founder Rob lives not far away from us in Bath. Other members are scattered through out the UK while a few others are hidden else where in the world.
You are in the north I take it?

It would good to a bunch of members together some time
