On Saturday, 20 August 2011 Triple Helix Wargames in Westbury will be hosting 'The Day of the Damned'
to celebrate our Forum's 3rd year of existence and to try and get as many of our members in one place at once.

What you want to do at the even is up to you, the Triple Helix Wargaming Centre will be ours for the day!
so we are going to need YOUR input, what would you like to do?

some suggestions are:
+ Mass Participation Games
+ Arrange games of your favorite system with other members and bring along your armies
+ A IQ style quiz on all aspects of gaming and the hobby
+ A painting and modeling competition
+ We may even be able to have a bar on the day

Remember people of the forum this is YOUR EVENT, for you!

All going well we should have some tLatD merchandise for sale on the day, which should include T-Shirts, Mugs and Wrist Bands (other products may follow)

I'm sure there we'll be running plenty of games being ran that require no previous knowledge, probably some 40K but it might be worth people saying what they're willing to play or run.

FRAG was a big hit last time at the THW Grand Opening so I'll see if Chris would like to bring it along
Quest Skirmish is an easy one to set up get going
Space Crusade Also (get everyone who want to play to bring a Squad)
MortiS QuesT is a little more difficult to organize and will take all day to run, but ....
DragonStrike or CaStLe RaVenLoFt would be good for people in the mood for a dungeon crawl

anyone else want to throw something into the ring?

I'd be happy to run any of the following:

Poor Bloody Infantry (WW2 Company level game)
Naval Thunder (WW2 Naval Warfare)
Inquisitor (Warhammer 40K Heroic Skirimish)
Colonial Battlefleet (Could do this Star Trek themed or just generic sci-fi space battles, though I'd need to snag a hex mat first!)
Battlefleet Gothic (40K spaceships)
GorkaMorka might be fun also.

Non-wargame wise I'd also be up for Magic: The Gathering as well, only realised lately how fun that game is.

I think we have a 6'x6' hex sheet (blue) at THW, I'll check on Monday

Ah yes a GorkaMorkA racing game (bring your own vehicle) could be fun, I may even have some GorkaMorkA terrain for the desert table by then

That'd do I suppose, the battle happens to be taking place in a slightly blue nebular

Yeah racing would be fun, of course racing will turn into shooting and ramming rather quickly I fear.

yes, all of that.

maybe add a Q and A session, like show and tell, where we show our fave model and answer questions about it?

im gonna try my mega-fuckin-hardest to make it, and if i do i have some geegaws at work i could bring to help the event...

the day obviously should have gaming where we play each other, but should have a large "standing around jawing" section too- apart from the little cabal of mortis and Robs mates on here a few of us are pretty spead out so it would be nice to really get to know each other!

we should also have a bit of the old hobby side- maybe not actually doing any on the day, but a "golden demon" type thing where we have categories and stuff?

i suppose a group visit to a massage parlour after is out of the question?

i will go with the flow tbh

What about a massive game of munchkin or a skirmish participation game?

I'm good to go with whatever seeing as I just tend to turn up not knowing anything about the hobby. Though having bought Castle Ravenloft for a certain person at Christmas it would be good to see how it plays.
