Do you remember the transparent (invisible) markers from Warhammer Fantasy Battle 6th edition / Warhammer 40000 3rd edition?
I finally painted these templates, anyone who have got this version of these templates knows how much annoying they are.
A little summary of the standard procedure in my WH40K games:
Me: "Ok... Missile launcher on your Space Marine squad, one moment... where... where is the blast marker?"
Wargames buddy: "Here it is!"
M: "No... this is the ordnance one... where is the 3" one?"
WB: "Why don't you just take the WHFB one?!"
M: "NO! I must find the transparent one!"
M & WB searching the marker: "May god be [censored] in the [censored] and the [censored] jesus, [censored] in the [censored] with [censored] of the [censored] [censored]... [censored] his [censored] mother [censored][censored]..."
*13 min later*
M: "I find it! I find it! Finally! BS 4..."
*roll the dice*
M: "2! Miss."
But NOW, there will never be any curses involving deities! How? It's simple!
You must only paint them without undercoat, using the old GW inks.
First of all I painted the entire markers with a layer of Yellow ink, then I painted the rays with orange and red ink (not in the flamer template), than the "clouds" with red and brown ink, then I painted the border and the smoke with a black pen for CD and, in the end, a transparent spray to protect the inks.
The result is quite good (better than the greenish ones) and now they are still transparent but not invisible!
