My Chapter Master/Praetor model with 2 out of 5 Deathshroud models to use as "Ritterbruder" body guard.

Just an excuse to post some of my organisational fluff.

Primarch Orkan Turoc, The Technocrat, Thunderchild, Bringer of Storms, The Lightning Lord, The Great Iterator, Philosophex Maximus, Grand Kaiser and Primarch of the Storm Bulls Legion.

3 tribunes elected from anywhere in the legion:

Tribuni Militum (commander of the ground forces), Hochmeister,
Master of the hunt.

Tribunus Navibusque Adiuturus (commander of the fleets), Kreigsmariner Grand Admiral

Tribunus Sapienissimus, Tribune of the keen minds, Arch Librarian, Philosokrator. (Commander of the librarians,
research and general management of the home space)

8 Prince Electors: Primarch, The 5 Pentarchs, and 2 Consuls (Dreadnoughts). These guys elect the Tribunes.

5 Conclaves of colleges, Represent the fields of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Technology and Warp science, each ruled by a Pentarch.

Pentarchs hold one of the following titles, Arch Chamberlain (Equerry), Arch Marshal (Great Komtur of the RiterBruder (Elite guard)), Arch Bannerbearer, Arch Steward and Arch Treasurer.

These are then divided into Colleges, each headed by A Philosophex. The colleges are the subdivisions of the colleges; haematology, medicine, biochemistry, pharmacology and the prime college of biology (the philosophex of this is the pentarch of the conclave) being the colleges of the conclave of biology for example.

This is then further broken down into Houses, led by a Patriarch (and since space marines can breed in this legion, he will be more than likely be related to most astartes in this house and most Dukes will be his direct descendants).
Halls come next, this is where Military structure comes into play more than political/familial/scientific structure. Led by A Duke and consists of 1110 Astartes.

A hall is divided 10 times, giving 10 units of 111, 100 line Astartes, 8 Apothecaries (Known as Knights Hospitaller), 2 Librarian Knights and 1 Komtur in command.

A unit consists of 2 Horns, Each Horn Comprising of 55 Astartes, 2x20 tactical squads, 5 Heavy weapon Marines, 5 Special weapon Marines, each led by a Knight and accompanied by a Knight Hospitaller. Each Horn is supervised by a Librarian Knight, who can relay orders psychically.

Pre-Heresy Strength; 10,000. Each conclave only comprised 2 colleges and Houses were non existent (especially since the ability of Astartes to breed was only implemented after they left the imperium).

Post-Heresy Strength (001.M42): 8 Million. Line Astartes Drawn primarily from the largest conclaves, biology, chemistry and physics, Librarians from the Warp Sciences conclave and Fleet officers and staff from the conclave of Technology. (Ridiculous size comes from 10,000 years of not doing much other than making more marines...)

Not every college gives the same number of Astartes due to size constraints and most Houses span several colleges and even conclaves.
