"We were hull down in a dip, several thousand meters from the Eldar landing site. We had everything passive, recording as much as possible with the optics and wireless. Then within seconds it all went to crud. they saw as and we really had kicked the hornets nest. we fired the electric drive up first and scooted out, then as soon as the burner engines warmed up we kicked them in as well. Ever seen a Salamander outrun a grav-tank? well we can, with a head start and for a little while. We went loud... half our smoke bombs fired and our full sensor suite went into max. Active radar, sonar, LiDAR and D/F, all flowing down through the Sat-pAc into encrypted data stream to orbital stations. We sent the lot and then some, images, heat signatures... all our data.
We got a bit of a lead on them and well.... we got away.
How? Buddy, you wouldn't believe me."

Lt. Leez, 1st AF(R) Recon
Troop

"The Salamander Hybrid proved to be a great success. In close in recon the electric motors cut sound detection down to a few hundred yards, not several miles. the tracks were also rubber coated to reduce clank, which on the down side meant more maintenance and more thrown track pins. The updated sensor suite with passive and active devices, as well as the useful twin aerial D/F module meant accurate guidance for air and missile strikes."

this sadly might just be my last tank, and I have gone out on a bit of a high note. this model has been kicking around the work area for months. Its my first real attempted and a camo scheme since the failed (sort of failed) sentinel, and its subtle and sets the vehicle apart while still looking AF(R)
I MIGHT place a third crew member in the bay, as I have left a dead space just for this purpose. when I realised the predator laser power packes fitted so well on the chimera I had the idea for a hybrid drive. I thought it made it easier to be sneaky.
otherwise this is very similar to my older converted salamander, which uses the old ammo pallet as a base. it is SUCH a good fit into he chimera it simply cannot be a coincidence. after that its just a matter of finding a nice way to mouth the auto cannon, which I am about 80% happy with. All guard armies should have a salamander and if you have the bits you can make your own easily and much cheaper.
