PROJECT: Honoured Fallen

Honoured imperium

I have recently got hold of the big Marine Statue...

"We came down that alley spitting blood. The square was full of rebels dug in behind plascrete. Psyops speakers were blasting out Canton was a heretic and a schmuck, but no one was listening. We threw all we had in the general direction of the enemy, when the wind rose and the smoke cleared... we saw it there. A huge statue, bronze, bright as the sun.
we felt closer to... Him, you know?
Second Platoon flanked down the shops on the right and the Cantonites fled.
You can bet I carved my name on that statue befor we pulled out... God yeah."

Cpl Gray Arturo, Reverend Canton Campaign, Snakefish North, 349th AF(R)

vert de gris

so i bought the plastic space marine statue, and to be fair I am glad i did. its not bad. as usual, its overpriced, but sort of worth it. I painted it, weirdly, using the technique in White Dwarf. I think it looks well ace.

I like the lack of detail they added.

The horrible flat patch between hand and sword... Brilliantly GW. You think they'd make some effort, not just take a 3 up and sell it.

well... it DOES look like a statue. its not a bust like the FW one, its a bit of street furniture, and I think for that it works. it looks very realistic as a statue. i think the simplicity is intentional.

Since this forum started, it is very clear that we have a love hate thing going on with G/W. Mainly because of there high prices compared to other companies. As i have said many times on this forum. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T BUY IT. I'v not bought a GW model in years because of the overpricing.
But good luck to those that can afford it.

there is indeed a GOOD NATURED anti GW theme on this site, simply because Mortis and Rob are interested in ALL minis from everywhere and embrace it as a whole.

i am unabashadly a GW whore, which I accept and at times bask in. but i have NEVER been attacked or made fun of because of it. I haver had anything but supportive postitive comments regarding my work.

you need to accept this site is biased against GW. if not, warseer is always open...

Like me, most of the people in this forum obviously are angry but proud Anti-GW nazis.
But I think that's nothing wrong on this statue, I must be honest!
And G.Biakal did a better job than mine (but I can't find where I saved the damned pictures...)

I don't think any of us are nazi's. I just think that we have been gaming long enough not to put up with overpriced poor quality goods. There are still things i want to buy from GW but i think to myself, do i really need it or is there an alternative. My nephew played a couple of games at GW and liked it but when my sister saw the price . She bought him an X-box instead.  To build a big enough army to game with it would cost more than the x-box. Models should be cheap enough for a kid with £10 pocket money to buy.
However i do like this model in the above picture.

Not everything negative you find online is written with a genuine, scathing dislike for things.

It's a statue. You painted it well.

....but it's a statue. Woe to you if you think I was being particularly serious.

whoa messy... i never said i took what you said wrongly! i see what you meant about it being "low in detail" but i simply said i thought that was intentional. im cool! i thought later posts were not not entirely in the tone we here normally use, that sall...
