Charlie DOG is attatched to C company of the 317th. Traditionally the "back end" of C coy is the holding area for all the "funnies", one off's and specialist vehicles a regiment may accrue. vehicles like Atlas recovery vehicles, mine clearance tanks and bridge layers, as well as rare and specialist combat vehicles like Destroyers do not operate within the regimental structure but still need ID so they are given the full identity C-D00--, ther D standing for Detatched Troop.
Destroyers are so rare they are often given a wide ranging remit to harrass the enemy, as the Regimental commanders agree their individual vehicle commanders understand their capabilities more than they ever will.
this vehicle has all the usual markings of the AF(R) as well as the 317th. it is obviously an old vehicle but is fitted with a sophisticated remote controled heavy stubber.
Charlie DOG is a standard Destroyer fitted with a lightweight dozer blade and a remote controled heavy stubber. It has a large spotlight and smoke launchers fitted as standard. it also carries extra fuel and repair supplies in rear stowage
the commander of Charlie DOG, Captain Timus Gwendel, is a very pious man and has asked Reverend Clamp to bless his vehicle and its main weapon with Imperial Purity Seals
this model was part birthday present and part treat for being a good boy (from me)! the resin sections were ok, but you can tell they were from one of the oldest models FW do. i was amazed to find it was the new LR kit in the box, not a left over old style. you get both the full sprues, PLUS an imperial armour accessories sprue, plus the resin bits, for £41- actually quite good value. the fit is a bit shonky but not enough to ruin the model. i wouldnt pin everything in entering one in Golden Demon tho. good kit, looks great, good value and not overly complicated. i wish id decided to leave the top hatch removable at the start, as i might have been tempted to put a crew member under the cuppola. the new style LR spotlight over the drivers hatch was a bit of an inspitation and panned out rather well, as did the battle damage on the dozer. the dozer and cuppola were NOT included in the kit
