Hello! yet ANOTHER model if had sat on the shelf sprayed and waiting... this has never really been a favourite model but in my recent push to "get shit done" iv got round to pretty much finishing it.
Here we have the old, out of balance Demolisher model, plastic with a metal gun and extra armour. the metal engine cover is supposed to add weight to the back and balance the gun bit but it really cant- that turret is 'nuff heavy.
Main gun with mount for pintle Heavy Stubber or HK missile ****
The front prongs are an "in the field" addition to protect from the practise of lying on the floor, letting a tank roll over you and placing a mine or shaped charge on the underside. the checkerboard pattern is probably an anachronistic joke by the crew to reprisent teeth. *
as ever the Flash device on the right hand side indicates it as part of the 349th AF(R) and the Black Skull motif is a unit citation all vehicles carry. This is part of the Second Squadron of A Company. **
the side armour additions were also added by engineers in the field. as the Demolisher usually operates close to enemy lines or in an urban enviroment where the concept of "lines" are blurred extra protection for vulnerable areas is needed. ***
* right from the beginning i wanted my demolisher to be a big, impressive and unique model. which is why it has the full track guards, 3 smoke launchers and the front plough. I also only used one exhaust pipe on the normal Leman Russ i have, so when I used two on the Demolisher it indicated a more powerful vehicle...
** i spent a long time with a friend in the army asking how Tank formations were organised. He said Squadron is the same as Company and Troop is what we in 40k call a Squadron (ie three tanks).
the problem is all the fluff (and even the rules to an extent- 1 HS choice is a Squadron of three tanks and 9 is sold as an Armoured Company) point to the smallest tank unit as a "Squadron". So iv had to go with that.
*** right, this is a funny story. I fucked up. i put tthe side sponsons on, they didnt look right so i broke them off. but by then id used the side doors for other stuff and also base sprayed the matt caramel colour so it looked messy. I looked for ages for a solution and realised the side panels from the Hydra gun enplacment in the Aegis Defence line box looked cool. Iv deliberatley over-sprayed them to make them look "ad-hoc" and improvised.
***** iv not decided which option to put on here so iv left it for now... definatley not a storm bolter, a HK missile is so random (it only has a single shot and hits on a 4+) so im thinking maybe a heavy stubber. then it can move 6" and still fire everything. The heavy bolter was a bit of a pig to do as in those days there was only a las-cannon option in the box. it is a cut down and heavily shaved gun from the side sponson. its pretty low on detail compared to new ones.
