well, iv had this model for about a year. its sat on my "in progress" shelf with only the main hull base coated since maybe easter. the other night i decided to throw some work at it. Its finished, but its hardly the most inspiring model so its not one of my best works. i just hate the hull mounted lasguns and i think it shows i was a bit "meh" towards this model in its completeion. however it does have a certain charm and im quite pleased with how the turret panned out so here it is...

the turret flamer is a cut down and messed with sponson flamer from the new Leman Russ kit. everything else is standard except for the cupola hatches which are the very old style.

the flamer ammo is from the very old style accessories sprue.

chimera heavy flamer turret
this vehicle has been fitted with no less than TWO heavy flamer units. the fuel for the turret weapon is mounted outside, a much safer option as if the tank explodes it is no where near powerful enough to rupture the hull, but were it to explode inside the vehicle it would be catastrophic. its crew and the troops it carries are obviously used to operating very close to the enemy. in the area where 349th vehicles usually carry a name  this vehicle has a "flame" decal. this dentifies it as "ole' Flameful", a vehicle uually deployed supporting more specialist troops and veteran raiders.

chimera with turret heavy flamer
note the prominent "C company, 2nd Platoon" idents. most mechanised infantry platoons would have between 3 and 8 such tanks

canvas sunshade or awning
this Chimera has been fitted with a canvas awning.

Nice work as usual, you must be getting a pretty huge collection of IG armour.

The turret flamer looks good, nice choice of parts. I like the towing hooks on the lower front hull too, little stuff like that makes the model look more like a tank and less toy-like.

Looking really good.
(It somehow reminds me of battered die-cast metal toys once they've been in the sandpit for a while)
I'm loving all the little features.

looking great man!

As with all your tanks good use of parts!
I'm quite keen on the way you've done the turret in fact, the old Heavy Flamer Fuel Tanks are one of my favorite little parts to add into conversions. I think I'd have gone with the old style Lemanruss copla on the turret rather than the one you used.

there has to be an alternative to the hull mounted lasguns, how about some kind of gun slits the troops inside can point their guns out of, you could use the backing plate from the hull mounted lasguns to make a row of 3 slits

as Mr Babble said your worn metal technique is looking excellent, your painting just get better and better

its just a drybrush with vomit brown then a drybrush with a very big brush ,at least 2" , of boltgun metal!!

the parts issue is a good one- im always very keen to mix up bits to create a unique look. its looking probable that most of my IG vehicles will have rhino cuppolas soon
