I have had this model sat, base sprayed in caramel and black for about 18mts. i find the Basilisk a pretty uninspiring model in both game terms and design but i suppose i was curious and got one. maybe i was bored.
i have had this knocking about so long iv lost the protective rail- which im not sure is such a problem as i think it looks ok as i is. i found the old fashioned tracks a real chore compared to the new style ones and to be honest i sort of prefer the new ones even tho it feels like your getting less in the box.
im not overly enamoured with the fit tho and the gunshield in front of the fighting platform is slightly off angle.
i wanted to keep it within the same artillery regiment as the manticore so i used the same strict ID decals. the yellow circle indicates vehicle number, the number 2 is the battery. the lightning flash is on every one of my vehicles and indicates it has been absorbed into the 349th Assault Force (Recon). the black skull motif is a unit citiation all members of the AF(R) carry.
I wanted to mount the pull chain in a different, realistic and 3-D way- so i used the tow bars to hold and support it. it also added width to the vehicle which i think it needs as the high superstructure looks unbalanced. see also below.
I wanted this to look a bit more independent compared to other basilisks... in the AF(R) i feel they will often be away from support vehicles so vehicles need to self-recover as much as possible as well as prepre their own fighting positions with a dozer. im not a massive fan of the scoop on normal IG vehicles but for this one io think it balances out the height of the gunshield and therefore makes a better looking model.
