I do feel that GW has just given up now and just produce one turd after another without any concept of what they are doing. Either that are all the good sculptors ideas people have realised there are better companies out there and they are just left with Fan boys who know nothing of the GW golden days, and can't sculpt or come up with ideas f their life depended on it.
I don't play 40k so please explain this to me lol. I think by themselves those models are pretty cool. Why the hate? Apart from the probably astronomical pricetag of course.
i think its like the zombie thing
hords of shambling, slow moving, untiring flesteaters are cool & the new inproved superfast, well climing, tunnal digging are just so gay
For me being in the WH40k universe for the past 20 years, it has such a deep an amazing universe it saddens me that GW are turning into a cross between Manga and the Power Rangers.
Only FW seem to be keeping to the true nature of the universe.
Just wondering how they would punch anything without the barrells of there guns getting trashed. Apart from this i sort of like them but i will not be buying them. M
i think its the stunted limbs; they need some knees and maybe extending a bit at the waist.. then all the "Glue on moar gunz" cutting back and modelling to look like part of the suit...
i'm with you on this one Sjeng,
the book was-is so much more even the unabridged audiobook is edited (2 scanes cut the massacer at the church & the chinese sub) but with some great voice actors Mark Hamil & Henry Rollins to name 2 BUT i was thinking the dawn of the dead remake
Well, according to the description on the website (storewankfront) these ...things... turn marines into walking tanks.
So, despite the fact that terminator armour has been doing that for c.25 years the GW favourites (Matt Ward spunk rags) need something 'special' to make them different.
dont even let me start on the double prices codicies featuring a variant hard back cover, or the fact that they have had more new releases that any other other army in this editiion, or that 10 tactical mariners are now £25. that is 2.5 times more PER marine that when i got into this hobby.
Please fogive the venom in this post, fed up of any interesting faction being screwed over for GW/ Mat Ward/ the Shareholders just to have a wet wank against a damp fridge against.
+++End of Rant++
P.S. On a different note, anyone enjoy Melksham Comic Convention?
while i certainly enjoy (and often partake!) in a Good Rant couplea points, if i may?
when did you start The Hobby? as prices will rise due to inflation (not counting GW's imaginary 12% per year) ; for those of us gaming for 17+ years, some rises are to be expected... a quick google gives me 54.21% total price rise (£4.99 for 3 metal figures becomes £8 in today's money) :)
those new, terribad, "i want to be a mech! all the other games get exosuits!" figures are more likely to be Cruddaceas; Matt Ward didn't write this book...
when were codex mureens interesting? is that not the point of hte other marine codices- to illustrate non-boring marine armies!

*i am friendly! won a 40k tournament on Sportsmanship points!
I have been gaming for c14 years, (i have lost track). back when I started 10 plastic marines cost £10 (although the options were a bit more limited)! Compared now to 10 marines for £25 this is an increase of 2.5 times.
Of course inflation does have to be taken into consideration, which will certainly account for some of the increase, it is very unlikely however to be the sole reason for the increase. One suspects a Board which is out of touch with their customers, combined with a marketing and sales strategy which is aimed at parents with more money than sense, rather than supporting those customers who has spent money over many years building an army and suppporting a company which they had respect for.
The reason for my singling out of Mat Ward for ire (other than a bottle of wine) comes from reading a number of his recent works, which seem to view existing canon as being somewhat optional.
It is certainly possible to create interesting armies using the default codex, via a combination of painting/ modelling and careful choice of options in ones army list to support a theme.
Most of my reaction was fueled by a combination of exhaustion and wine, and I am willing to have a look through the army book for any useful ideas. However I doubt that the new models at the top of the thread will be involved in any of my work.
The new Vanguard veterans however have some very nice looking bits for be Slaanesh Marines, very nice indeed..., yes precious, we wants them...
So now the muhreens have got ...Superterminators!!!!!! These look absolute pants!!! Glad I've ditched all my 40k stuff, and replaced it with shit that's way better!!!!!
