Mortis nagged me to join

Swiftblade
So, I met the guy once at a LRP adventure, I then get a facebook request and nagged ever since to join the forums. Well, I've relented, so here I am. :p

So, me. I'm a massive gamer, have been since I can remember. even at primary school I made up and ran my own games for the other kids.

I discovered Heroquest when it first came out in 1989 (still remember the adverts) when I started secondary school aged 11. Those who know maths know that makes me 21. Least that's what I tell everyone. Loved it, then started playing WFRP, WFB (3rd edition), 40k (1st edition, rogue trader), epic space marine/titans, bloodbowl (2nd edition), space hulk (had all the expansions), space crusade, advanced HQ and SC etc etc. At one point or another I've owned practically ever game that GW produced up until a period of time, maybe around 1994 when they started to get a bit rubbish. You know, when White Dwarf went from a games magazine, to an in games magazine to a games catalogue... (Oh, I also own WDs from issues 18 to around 170). I also got into live role-play from a very young age, and haven't stopped since.

Alas, being a grown up and all, over the last 20 odd years (11 + 22 = 21, right?) alot of my collection has vanished, got lost, been lent out etc to the stage where I'm now looking to rebuild it. So, if anyone can help, I'd be much obliged.

Rather than clog up this intro, I'll make a comment with what I'm after, if anyone can help or has stuff for sale, please let me know (might save my current eBay splurge). Anywho, nice to meet you all.

Hi and welcome! That's quite a list you're looking for, good luck with that ;)
Lots of stuff can be found on the net, you only have to print it. I'm going to print all HQ expansions myself, because they're impossible to get in the Netherlands (some weren't even released here). Only need some replacement mini's.
Keep us updated with your search (pictures!)

Yeah thanks, but as I'm a collector I'm looking for originals, not copies :)

Have made a dent in my original list, am scouring the internet/car boots/charity shops etc picking up bargains. Will keep you posted.

That's an impressive list there, though I'm sure some of the people in this forum could beat it if they really tried!

Ah the joys of Hungry Trolls in the Pantry and others from the range. I myself have two of those, but sadly (for you) I'm not planning on getting shot of them any time soon as they're the only pieces of gaming that I happen to own. Plus, I think Mort would lynch me if he didn't get first dibs on them if I decided to get rid of them.

Oh - and welcome to the forum!!!

Thanks all for the welcome. Annoying thing is, I think I have hungry trolls somewhere, I certainly have the tape cassette (very silly!). I'm reasonably sure my wife has thrown things out over the years, for example I had a massive epic ork army that's vanished :(

I always loved those tapes!! They were the best thing about the games! {I'm a gobbo - I'll let your lilo down}, {10 green gobbos}, {what are wicked wizards made of?}.

They were so cool! Lent out the two tapes I had for people to copy onto computer files. Have them all safely back in my possession now though.

Happy day on acquiring the Judge Dredd game!

Have won 2 x" space hulk" (plus the 2 expansions) plus "Hungry Troll and the Gobbos" AND "Battle for Armageddon" with "Chaos Attacks". Soon I'll own everything Games Workshop pre 1994 (ish)!

Re: Mortis nagged me to join

Alright already :) Got a few more last night too including "Railway Rivals". I have about 10 games in the post, once they arrive I'll post some piccies.

Question is, should I include my whole board games collection? That's going to be quite a few more pictures :P

Re: Mortis nagged me to join

Ok, you asked for it.

So, that's the main board games so far, not as many GW games as I'd like, but some of the old ones. Got a far few in the post, I'll post piccies when they arrive.

Not sure where I'm going to have space, but will worry about that later :P

Re: Mortis nagged me to join

That's a lot of board games!! Do you get time to play all of them or are some now relegated to the shelf except in special occasions??

If I may make a suggestion - you appear to be missing Sorcorer's Cave. Apologies if I'm wrong here. It's the first dungeon-crawl game that my entire family played together, and if my brother could get my mum interested in a dungeon crawl, you know it's got to be playable.

And I just have to ask - What is Tiggerly Winks??

Re: Mortis nagged me to join

Well, have played them all (except some of the new ones), some not for decades, some not for years, but some fairly recently and often.

We've just started a board game Tuesday recently, so going to be playing through them all eventually. last 2 weeks was Talisman (2nd ed), tomorrow will be Willow (never played before). looking forward to it.

Never heard of "The Sorcerer's Cave", but having looked into it it looks quite fun. A quick eBay search shows 2 copies, one for £20, one for £30 (including an expansion). Good prices for a Games Workshop game I'm trying to collect, but a little more than I'd pay for a game I've never played before. that said will keep an eye out for it. my mum is queen of the car boot sales and have asked her to keep an eye out for games, this Sunday she picked up "Dark world" for 50p. Its a game I recall playing years ago and at that price its worth getting :P

As for "Tiggerly Winks", that would be my wife's! Then again, so is the Munchkin selection!

Will update on the Willow game after we've played it and post more piccies once the next batch of games arrive (there are 9 in the post, whoops!)

Re: Mortis nagged me to join

Today's arrivals.

All looks fine, except the Dungeonquest is missing 3 of the 4 character sheets. Everything else is superbly packaged so is odd. have contacted seller to find out what happened. If not, anyone have a PDF of the charcters?
