MortiS Quest Skirmish

Over the last few weeks a bunch of the guys from my gaming group have been regularly booking a table at Triple Helix Wargames in Westbury and playing some skirmish sized battle games with 10-15 models per a side, using a modified version of my 'MortiS Quest' rules.

I guess it started when we took a break from our regular dungeon-crawling when I ran an adventure where our Heroes defended a village against an Orc raid (and later a dragon attack!). Then when Mark RG booked a game of 40k with Steve from Triple Helix, he asked if Me and Big Cat would like to come along and book a table for a game of something. It was a this point the thought occurred that the Quest rules could be used to run fast playing skirmish games in the vane of Mordheim and Warhammer Skirmish type games (basically warbands of monsters vs monsters). And so it began, since then Chris, Jennan and others have become involved and we've began to develop a subset of rules especially designed for skirmish level battle-games.

At the moment we don't have much in the way of written rules to show you, but we do have some great photos of our games and the miniatures we've been using (mostly my miniatures in fact)

 ^Skaven Assassin vs Orc Spearman

 ^The Skaven prepare for battle

^Giant Rats cross a wooden bridge

^Various Chaos creatures storm a bridge

^Orcs and Goblins prepare to defend their village

^Battle is joined between Orcs and Skaven!

^A Chaos Warband explore some ruins

 ^Zombies gather in the woods...

^... and march forth into battle!

^Chaos Warriors survey the land ahead

 ^Greenskins take on Dwarfs

^A Chaos Warlock gets attacked by a Fen Beast

That looks like a lot of fun!

It sounds as though Mortis Quest is turning into a comprehensive set of table top gaming rules. Exciting stuff!

Excellent!
Loving all the models.
Let me get this straight.  Triple Helix Games didn't mind you playing a game of your own rules, and not a game they stock?  This would never been allowed in Games Workshop!

Are many of the rules very different for Skirmish MortisQuest? - I'm being off the grid, and so forth?
What type of dice are those pictured with the Skaven assassin and Orc Spearman?

(Great photos - how do you keep in focus?)

Yep you can go along to THW and play whatever games you like, in fact it's actively encouraged!
Steve and Charlotte who run Triple Helix have a similar aim to us here on tLatD in that they want to broaden people's gaming horizons

The basic rules are exactly the same (White and Red Combat Dice are used in the usual way), movement of course is measured in Inches for the tabletop, a few extra rules were added to deal with terrain types and situations not encountered in dungeons. In a nutshell it's a game where we have the Quest monsters fight each other.
The dice seen next to some of the miniatures in the pictures are 'damage dice' from the WoW CCG we use them to count the remaining Body Points on Multi-Body Point creatures

Thanks dude, my top tip is to find a camera with a 'Macro Mode' ... Still I end up with a lot of un-usable out of focus photos, so make sure to take lots of photos, the more photos you take the more chance you'll have of taking good photos

Yeah each square of movement works out to an inch in skirmish.
You think your lag is bad! It took 3 days for Jesus to re-spawn!
