Mantic are also experimenting with a new material for their miniatures which they are calling 'resin plastic', apparently it holds detail just as well as metal but is around half the cost. Mantic have posted this video:

unfortunately there are no close-up pictures yet but hopefully soon. I'll definitely be picking up more of Mantic's stuff if the 'metal' models will be half the price they were before.

Looks like Mantic are doing the smart thing and using ingenuity to help them meet the demands of their customers rather than just saying 'it can't be done'.

Re: Get Mantic's Kings of War rules free

excellent!
Just watched it now (and realized that I get the same newsletter you do, anyway good to have it on the forum for our members to see)

Yes once again Mantic are doing what gamers want, low prices and high quality miniatures! this is yet another step forward toward a better hobby for us all. Mantic are clearly the most innovative miniature producing company out there at the moment, long ago that crown would have belonged to Citadel, but they have since fallen so far. Companies like Mantic are the way forward for the industry now

I have a feeling this will mean Mantic will be able to start doing large monsters soon, so I think we can reasonably hope to see Mantic do some Trolls, Orges, Dragons and Giants ect at some point next year.
Also I can see that further possibilities might open up for Mantic to produce their own terrain

I'd still like to see them do large monsters in plastic as they should still be cheaper than this new material, still hopefully something like that will come out with the orcs. But I do hope they'll start producing all their character sets in it, seems like they're just testing the waters with the undead cavalry.

Here are some close-ups from Mantic's blog:

The detail looks pretty good, I just hope other stuff becomes available in this material.
