what I'm more worried about is whether it rolls even, I imagine the LED unit would unbalance the dice ...

Please don't do it. We did this for my son's room and led strip light 12v unless you install a deflector, the light is unbearable ! You are blinded. Ours is 2 ft long as well and it is really a led strip 12v nightmare.

Anyway, you can find these at any up-scale lighting waterproof led strip light store in yr area. Not a good idea to buy on-line (IMHO).
