When into a room I plunge, I
Sometimes find some Violet Fungi.
Then I linger, darkly brooding
On the poison they're exuding.
Well actually this is a Shrieker Mushroom rather than a Violet Fungi, but I like including the The Roguelet's ABC rhymes in my posts. I decided a little while back that I'd like to do some mushroom-cave type encounters in my games and that I should really include some Shrieker Mushrooms (and eventually Violet Fungi too!). While looking at various miniatures and illustrations of Shrieker Mushrooms the thought occurred to me that it shouldn't prove too hard to sculpt some myself.
So taking my cue from a Tutorial On Sculpting Mushrooms I found on Cool Mini Or Not, I gave it a go and the result is the miniature you see above. It's not perfect, but I'm quite pleased with it, I plan to make a few more of these (maybe 2 or 3) and no doubt I'll improve on the method as I go.
If people show enough interest I might even gather the enthusiasm to take some stage by stage pictures as I'm working on the next one and write up a tutorial for people who like that kind of thing - so let me know what you think

To pad out this post a little I'm going to include a few pictures stolen from the web which inspired my sculpting - I consider my version a composite of these images
