Green Beetles

“The Beetles of Albion's woods are tough, dangerous foes when they attack en masse. Those skilled at weaponry are required to defeat them. Villagers, even armed, strong ones risk great harm if they take on a nest of Beetles.” - Creatures of Albion Book II

These 4 bugs are from Reaper's excellent BONES range.
I decided on green for the colour scheme to make them stand out from my dark red Giant Stag Beetles and green seemed like a good idea at the time.
The paint job was simple, starting with a black undercoat, I dry brushed the whole thing Citadel Scorched Brown followed by Citadel Graveyard Earth.
The beetles themselves were then painted with a thin layer of Citadel Dark Angel's Green allowing the shading from the previous dry-brushings to show through. Next I highlighted the beetles with Citadel Emerald Green and then shaded them with a little Citadel Thrakka Green.
The underneath of the abdomen was painted Citadel Kommando Khaki, highlighted with P3 Jack Bone and shaded with Army Painter Strong Tone wash. Finally I painted the eyes Citadel Vomit Brown and highlighted with Citadel Blazing Orange.

I've got 2 more of these sitting ready to be painted, but chances are they might get a slightly different paint job

Very simple and effective paintjob, I do love how good these Bones miniatures look for the price.

Bugs and creepy-crawlies are always useful for any dungeon.

Nice work.
