Ok First post smilies if you like the title. Second post your thoughts on the rules.
First may I tell you this is D8 based because I think the D8 is underused and it deserves some attention. First stats. HP MV CC SH S M DEX MI HP- Health points Mv- Move CC- Close Combat SH- Shooting S- Strength M- Muscle Dex- Dexterity MI- Mind. You can guess what those are for. Second how to shoot- In this game there are range incriminates that make it harder to shoot these are a follows. 0-5' -0 5-10' -2 10-15' -4 15-20' -6 First check to see if you are in range with your weapon then roll a D8 add your SH stat and subtract the range incriminate if you have beaten the targets DEX you have hit. Then you both roll D8's and add your Weapons strength or your muscle the person with the highest total wins. If the attacker got the highest total then his/her weapons damage is inflicted on the targets HP as damage. If the Defender wins there is no damage inflicted. If it is a draw nothing happens. Next Close Combat and charging- When you charge into close combat you move double you MV towards your target. You may not charge across cover. Combat. Each player rolls a D8 for each models in their side in the combat and adds the models CC stat to it, the modles with the highest score has hit (so each model will be fighting another model in the combat the D8s are rolled separately for each mni combat in the combat and damage is also worked out separately). To work out if you have damaged you both roll D8s and add you weapons strength or Muscle score to the roll. If the attacker got the highest total then his/her weapons damage is inflicted on the targets HP as damage. If the Defender wins there is no damage inflicted. If it is a draw nothing happens. That's it so far. Expect rules for running away and vehicles/. Also expect to see army lists for the grey aliens and humans etc. Please comment and ask questions. A.D

Looks interesting Bert, you don't see much use of a D8 outside of being a HD in D&D, but this does strike me as needing some work
the first thoughts that spring to my mind are as follows Swap DEX out for Armour Rating or something similar since that is what you are using that stat for What is the difference of definition between Strength and Muscle ? I'll see you for some playtesting soon

Ok time to answer questions.
The difference between S and M are as follows- S is how strong you are. Muscle is how tough you are. Dexterity is what you need to beet to hit some one, calling it armor rating which would not only be copying D&D but also imply that that is your armor which in this case is your Muscle stat. I'm thinking of dexterity more like agility. I hope that answers your questions. I'll see you Tuesday for some playtesting. A.D

ok then you need to called Muscle 'Toughness' or 'Endurance' Plenty of games use 'Armour Class', 'Armour Points' and similar term, not just D&D. I can see why you might not want that for your game though. I suppose you could call it Agility then, but that is still misleading - dodge could work I guess, I know it's a difficult concept to get across but 'Dexterity' is not the right term ... 'Target Rating' could work

I've changed it to Toughness and Target rating.
