Here's my little gang of dungeon monsters I painted to add some variety to my collection, I'm mostly into Wood Elves and related creatures, so these evil creatures made for an interesting change.
Here they all are posing like one of the pictures from the old HeroQuest rule books
from Left to Right:
*HeroQuest Orc with Sword
After a bit of prompting from Mort this was the first Orc I painted and I kinda like him! His jerkin is Scab Red and highlighted in Ruby Red for contrast. I loved the skull on his belt so made it a grimy white so it would stand out. And my first attempt at painting chain mail, I think looks ok!
*HeroQuest Skeleton
This guy was fun to paint, simply lots of drybrushing in lighter and lighter shades each layer. Left him a bit darker than he could have been just because I liked it that way! I thought it made him look like he had been laying around for a while waiting for some unsuspecting hero to come along!
*Warhammer Quest Snotling
The most important thing about the Snotling was his size! Fiddly wee thing to paint but still with a bit of patience came out ok.
*HeroQuest Chaos Warrior
I hadn’t seen the picture of these guys from the rulebook before I painted this one but even if I had I thing I still would have painted him this brass metal colour! He pleases me! We used him shortly after he was finished in a game and I was quite sad to see him killed by the adventurers!
*HeroQuest Goblin with Axe
The goblins belt was the trickiest thing with this model, it has a tiny buckle and belt loop which I smudged up a couple of times before I was happy with the result. Just glad it isn’t the knotted affair that he wears in the rulebook pic.

I am currently working on several things at the moment, the first finished (I hope) will be a female wraith that came from Reaper, also from them I have a rather skimpily clad female barbarian that I plan on painting up to use as a character in our next game. After that I will move on to painting some of the bigger creatures I have in waiting. A Unicorn and Pegasus each with a foal will be coming up the queue soon, promise to post more pics when they’re done!
