The only game I know of with that name is a Games Workshop produced "Mad Max" game, cars vs cars vs motorcycles.
It had these fun plasticcars that you could switch weapons on, otherwise it was pretty much Car Wars in pretty much the same setting but with different rules.

Dark Future is (or rather was) a post apocalypse game based around vehicle to vehicle combat, it was published by Games Workshop in the late 80's, proved very popular at the time a got quite a lot of coverage in White Dwarf.

The cars it used where the same scale as Matchbox, Hot-wheels, ect which meant it was very easy to get hold of models to play with. Check out these classic conversions from a White Dwarf of the time

Back when GW did something else but produce expensive miniatures... how I miss that time.

A friend of mine had this game, we never managed to play, but I loved flipping through the rulesbook and imagining
building some arenas and having a small campaign.
As I recall it was a bit easier to play, since the cars and cycles moved in "boxes" on the roadparts, compared to Car Wars.

Yea it's sad that the golden days are long gone

I havn't played it myself ... yet, but GW did a few years back make it available for download as a (huge) PDF which I have sitting in my archives - you might be able to find a copy of it online somewhere (if not I can see about uploading it, but it's too big for the Forum's, so I need someone to recommend a large file hosting site)
One day I shall sort out printing off some road pieces and get a game together

yea the road sections are divided into 'lanes' and 'spaces'

...well this sucks. I can't find any of those old rule sets anymore. They used to have them under OoP games and i know Gorkamorka and Dark Future both had rule sets there as well as some other games.

Boardgamegeek has a page about it here: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/2285/dark-future and 66 pictures.

I can't remember where I'd read this or heard this, but some Car Wars and Battle Cars fans were generally pretty disappointed with Dark Future.  There's certainly a lot of plastic and card in the boxed sets (like WHQ).

Full sets and cool figures turn up on Ebay occasionally.

I have Dark Future (out of box), which I bought originally the day it came out :P  Yes, its not actually that good, certainly not compared to Car Wars. Looks wise, its not bad, but doesn't play very well.

Still, it sits there in my collection...

I have this but always liked Battlecars/Bikes better, just a pity GW never bought out the Battle Trucks expansion!
