Carrion Crawler

This miniature is Reaper's excellent 'Charnel Grub', it's a rather nice Carrion Crawler type creature I purchased a few years back but only got round painting recently.

The base is made from a 30mm square base with 2 round 30mm bases cut in half and stuck on each end. I used Greenstuff to extend the stone-floor detailing of the Crawler's integral base onto the plastic base.

Painting wise, this was a simple but effective piece. The whole model was heavily dry-brushed with Citadel Catachan Green, then given a normal dry-brushing with Formula P3 Ordic Olive mixed with Catachan Green and then Ordic Olive on it's own followed by Citadel Camo Green.
The inside of the mouth was painted P3 Skorne Red, highlighted Citadel Tentacle Pink and washed with Magenta Ink. The teeth and 'prolegs' were picked out in Graveyard Earth followed by Kommando Khaki and given a final highlight of Bleached Bone. The 'rasps' on the end of the tentacles got similar treatment.
The flagstones on the base were painted Citadel Foundation Charadon Granite, dry-brushed P3 Ironhull Grey and then Citadel Codex Grey.
The Slime around the creature's foot was painted Citadel Camo Green and given a wash of Thrakka Green.

A good all-round monstrosity.

Presumably it could also serve as a "Servitor of the outer gods" for Call of Cthulhu in a pinch.

Either way, a nice, crisp paintjob.

Krengtors? I've never heard them called that before - I'm guessing that's a translated name, sounds cool though.

The name for these creatures in D&D (at least in the English language version) is Carrion Crawler

Yea I've never been that keen on the tentacles of the D&DABG Carrion Crawler, I think if I ever bother painting mine I'll replace the tentacles with ones made from thick wire and Green-Stuff.

I rather like the name 'Krengtor' I may use it in my campaign as an alternative name or the name of a subspecies of Crawler

In related news I believe the 'Charnel Grub' is one of the models Reaper is planning to produce as a Bones plastic

Here's a couple of pictures of the 'Crawler' in-action as a Wandering Monster during a recent game
