Appalachian Realm

Greetings all... This warrior hails from the North Eastern Appalachian Foothills Realm.

In my quests for useful and interesting bits of my return to the Games Workshop realm of gaming...

.....Mostly the good stuff from the past... less the current crop of homogeneity. (though not all of it).
It's been nigh on a decade since my last forays into the crypts and lost kingdoms of the Dwarven
Delves underneath the Worlds Edge Mountains.  And an additional Dogs age since my Marines and
gangs scrabbled across the war-torn worlds from the 41st millennium...

time and again I came across LotD and the prolific works of Mortis.

Having only really recently dug into a lot of games I missed.... Space Crusade, Advanced Space Crusade, Mordheim
and WFRP.  Lotd/Mortis name appeared time and again   at the top of my google searches for all things Space Crusade.
And again for a lot of Fantasy related goodness.  So I figured I had better go ahead and join & contribute since I've taken nearly all the offerings for SC, etc quietly in the background.

My previous decades GW related gaming was mostly of the SciFi bent (40k 2nd Edition, 3rd...) and Necromunda.  Spending every bit of time and money during my college years dedicated to tearing across the worlds and underhives resplendent in my hodgepodge of Orc Riggings, Totalitarian Might of my Ultra Marine Blues, Gibbering lunatic screams while my warped tentacled Slannesh Marines and Ravening Hordes capered across the entrails left from foe and ally...  and have even been known to consumed worlds when my Hive mind commanded....
But I never completely separated myself from the Fantasy worlds I cut my teeth on in Primary school (DnD Redbox) so Warhammer Quest had and still does make regular showings in our Game Nights.   More so lately... as I've really focused my energies on collecting and amassing a large fantasy horde with which to send our Heroes in to.  As well as all the material Official and Semi for the game.  Which has also lead me to branch into areas here-to-for ignored.  Talisman 3rd Edition for example, with it's huge variety of figures- figure in quite nicely for Warhammer Quest.  But also, as I've found out just this month, is quite a nice Beer and Pretzels game unto itself that scratches that particular itch.  So much so I've acquired - mostly by rolling a 6 on D6 and timing - the City and Dungeon expansions at a very reasonable price.  And the Dragons tower was created by digital assets acquired from these Webways...  Also, as an extension of WHQ and the desire to learn more about the Fantasy side Ole World... I've collected up more of the WHQ era related Army books and have worked my way (quite un-willfully I assure you) into the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st edition & Enemy Within campaigns.  Their brilliant writing, outstanding (original) fluff and dark low-fantasy has lead to further collecting of  Relams of Chaos volumes and the Middenheim and Marineberg City Gazetteers... and reading about (in secret tomes) the cataclysmic sundering  of the city of Mordheim.
Mordheim...  that's the fantasy equivalent of Necromunda right?  I love Necromunda!  Great...  off to e-bay.  Woot score!
All of these warbands fit nicely into Warhammer Quest as well... and vice verca... Brilliant!    And wow is there a plethora of material available for it as well...

I think you get the picture.

Being now in my second and fortieth year on this earth with young'ins of my own at the age ripe for gaming  It was high time to return...

Necromunda, more Space Crusades, Mordheim and some role play are all on the docket for play this year!  And I couldn't be more excited to have my kids and good friends to share the experience with.

So hello all &  Thank you for providing a fantastic community.

~Will

 As an addendum...

The original post covers mostly GW exclusively...  But that's more of me returning to the goodness that was the GW
past. Space Hulk, Epic, etc.

My tastes are much larger and cover a whole gamut of Board Games, skirmish games and everything in between. Formula de, Zombicide, Lords of Waterdeep, Colossal Arena, Descent, X-wing, Super Dungeon Explore, Magic(no seriously not much anymore), Vegas Showdown, Frag, Ticket to Ride, Bang, Axis and Allies, Spades, Carroom & rod hockey.

I am a Digital Graphic Designer by trade, amateur photographer/hobbyist and do a lot of my own work for gaming.  I particularly like or redoing old games from old pictures, scans, etc.  Redoing the graphical chrome, etc.  I've made a few Formula De tracks, and paper cars to scale.  I dabbled quite extensively into paper modeling ... building tons of fantasy/scifi terrain as well as models of giant robots, 28mm figures and props...  I also do reproduction decals for toys or just about anything requiring them.

With Two kids and little time it seems my hobby has mostly become Collecting Hobbies.  But I do what I can when I can...and when energy levels are maintainable...
