Aliens type miniatures from Scotia Grendel (and others)

Since Aliens seems to be popular on here at the moment I thought I'd use this opportunity to show you some great products from Scotia Grendel

You see Scotia Grendel make Kryomek a game that is heavily based on/inspired by the Aliens movies and is as close to an Aliens miniatures game as you are likely to get until some one (maybe FFG) gets a licence to make an official Aliens game (Horror-Clix not withstanding)

F0007 - A.T.A.C. APC Six-wheeled armoured personnel carrier, with chain gun turret. One resin model with metal accessories. £17.00

ok this isn't from the Kryomek range, but from Grendel's generic Sci-Fi range - However I think you'll agree it looks very much like the Vehicle from the 2nd film and is certainly worth a mention here. It's about the same size as GW's Imperial Guard Chimera Tanks (and could be used as such if your looking for something a bit different for your army) it's high quality resin with a few metal parts and will only set you back £17.00

Organic wall sections, one with victims held in place, another with a sphincter door, and a clutch of alien eggs. Set of resin models. £7.00

Futuristic infirmary, with cryogenic chambers to freeze casualties until the overworked doctor can get round to them! Set of resin models. £14.00

Also not from the Kryomek range but clearly inspired by the Aliens Films are the above 2 sets of terrain pieces.
Surely a must-have for anyone wanting to do an Aliens game!
I can also see these being used to great effect in Space-Hulk and Space Crusade

ok onto the actual Kryomek products now

^ The above terrain bits are all from the Kryomek Buildings/Interiors range
Again these would make terrain pieces for a Alien Hive or Tyranid Ship interior - Great for Space-Hulk and Space Crusade

KKO-001 - Helions Alpha Type
£6.00 Pack of 5 metal models

Warrior with Bio-acid jet. Pack of 2 metal models. £6.00

Warrior with two blades. Pack of 2 metal models £6.00

Warmaster with Cloud Duster. One metal model per pack £6.00

The Kryomek Aliens themselves are great models too, they are not quite Giger's Alien but I think with a little work they could look the part. I often recommend these to people collecting Tyranids who are looking for less pricey alternatives to GW's models - the Warriors make for great ... well Tyranid Warriors and the Warmaster model's are only an arm swap or 6 away from making a great Ravener replacement

ok that's all for now, but I might add some more to this thread later in the mean time why not take a look around the Scotia Grendel Productions online store yourself, they have lots of great products besides the few I've shown here - why not share a few you like?

Re: Aliens type miniatures from Scotia Grendel

if you want some marine types you can't go wrong with ...

EM4's plastic Troopers
Set of 5 miniatures. Snap together. Interchangeable weapons and backpacks (£2.55!)

These are great for bulking out any sci-fi human military army and at a fraction of the cost of GW's Imperial Guard miniatures

I'd say the EM4 metal Trooper line would be better for Colonial Marines, the armour is very similar as are the rifles, they even do smart gun figures. Copplestone Castings also do virtually identical figures.

Ah yes of course! yes they pretty much are Colonial Marines

Actually they are the same figures aren't they? (originally owned and manufactured by Grenadier)

Interestingly Copplestone also do unofficial Predator figures too and 'Terminator Robots' (EM4 Carry these too) - Since you've just pointed out the Colonial Marines too I'm starting to wonder if Grenadier did an unofficial Aliens range as well, but maybe finally ran into copyright problems - still they got away with it with all the other ranges!

Strangely not, they're very similar poses done by the same sculptor, he did the Grenadier ones first but didn't have the rights to them so sculpted them again to sell under the Copplestone branding.

I did not know that (although it does explain the bases now I come to think of it) - well I guess that means if you've got a force consisting of one range or the other you can easily expand it with out fear of (exact) duplicates

talking EM4's metal miniatures ...

 ^ Aliens 0467 Feeder £1.55
not a brilliant miniature, but potential Alien conversion or Genestealer Substitute

 ^ Aliens 0464 Hunter £1.55
maybe worth a look as a possible Predator type (the paint job isn't doing this model any favours)

 ^ Aliens 0468 Cockroach £1.55
Genestealer/Crab Hybrid? (lol)

all 3 of the minis above are from EM4's Unpainted Miniatures | Metal | Future Skirmish |ALIENS  Range and also available as part of a 5 piece Pre-Painted Box-set for those of you who aren't real hobbyists

"I got a big bag of crabs here, I'm gonna put them in my mouth..." He sang as he ran excitedly down the road.
A shadow rushed past him, taking him off of his feet and flinging him into a tight alleyway.
"MMMM, MMmmmMMMM!" he tried to scream, with muffled, crabby tones as the Genestealer pinned him down, thrusting its' ovipositor into his throat, before leaping away to hide among the shadows.

Before long, and once the surgery to remove all of the crabs was done, he begun to notice strange behaviour among some of his new crabby collection..

Just found these on the Predastore website.
They are a bit expensive but i think they might be worth the price.

Left: 28mm Spear Hunter / Right: 28mm Bone Hunter

Here is the link: http://www.predastore.ch/lang-en/7-kits?orderby=price&orderway=asc

Just gonna point out that if you're making a mold, you'll be kinda making the money back dependant on how many models you make
