6mm Modern Micro Armour

Not a lot to see here yet. But look. I did models! There's even pictures!

So as some of you may know I've been writing a set of rules for micro armour gaming primarily designed for 1/285th or 1/300th miniatures (probably usable at other scales with sensible range conversions). They cover pretty much all periods for armoured conflicts (1916 through to today) but I'm starting with doing some stuff from the Gulf War as there's a nice mix of modern armour involved. I've finally got to the stage where I want to start play testing them so minis are needed.

So here's some testers I'm putting together:

For my US forces: a Bradley IFV, a single 4 man fire team and an M1A1 Abrams.

And for the Iraqis a T-72 and Type 69 (though its really difficult to tell the difference between that and a T-62 at this scale).

M1A1 and a T-72 at a distance the crews may as well both get out and have a punch up instead of firing at one another.

Another shot of the 4 man fire team and the Bradley. (I'm super chuffed at how well my camera phone takes pictures of tiny figures, that's a 1p piece they're all stood on!).

All vehicles are by Scotia and infantry are from  Heroics and Ros.

Re: 6mm Modern Micro Armour

So when might we see these painted?

Re: 6mm Modern Micro Armour

I'm going to try and get them painted tomorrow. I have just noticed that the Bradley IFV is an M2A2 which although accepted for service in 1988 I can't seem to find a single picture of one in theatre for ODS so I might have to put an order in for some earlier variants. Oh well. Perhaps I'll be naughty and buy some of the stuff I want for doing Korea too. Bye bye money.

So I got on and did some painting. Bases need neatening up and basing obviously. They've all been painted with a fairly simple base coat/wash/dry brush sort of method. They're all pretty plain colour schemes. I'm slightly tempted to paint the Iraqis in the sand/green scheme some of their vehicles seem to have been painted in.

M1A1 Abrams

Bradley M2A2 and dismounted infantry.

Iraqi BMP-1, T-72 and Type 69.

So in an incredible spate of getting miniatures stuff done I actually even went and based these

I think they look pretty damn good if I do say so myself. I broke with my normal tradition of painting base edges black and went with brown as the black was way too harsh a contrast against the sand. I think I might do all of my 6mm scale stuff like this though.

So these things just pretty much paint themselves now.

10 out of the 12 BMP-1 for my full Iraqi infantry company.

Something a bit different. An up armoured variant of the T-55 produced by Iraqi and named the 'Enigma'

So I decided the Iraqis were painted too dark. So I repainted them

Some updates, done a ton more than this but these are what I took photos of.

A platoons worth of bradleys with sculpted stowage.

A second platoon.

And a third.
