15mm scale measurement query

This is more of game rules for small minis related query rather than on modelling and painting (feel free to move this post if there's a better place).
This may seem like an obvious question, but my maths and is failing me here.
Is there a standard unit of measurement when playing with 15mm figures in skirmish games?
Most fantasy FRP games nowadays seemed to be based on 25/28mm scale where 1inch=5ft.  The mixture of imperial and decimal isn't helping me much.  Basically I if was creating a microdungeon tile for 15mm figures, do I make up the width of the squares, or is there a standard used in tabletop warfare?  I'm refusing to look at the old D&D books on this because if I remember right the width-length of corridors on paper maps was disproportionate to the height of the figures.

Re: 15mm scale measurement query

To my knowledge there's not a standard. But I reckon ½" = 5ft would probably end up looking about equivalent to 1" for 28mm models. However the size of basing for 15mm figures tends to be a little proportionally larger (Most I've seen end up bases about 0.8" in diameter or thereabouts) so sizing of squares might have to be a little different to accommodate that.

To my reckoning 1cm squares should do it

This all sounds good to me. Both the half inch and 1cm scale sound easy to work with. One option for 15mm gamers might be just to print two sheets of my 25/28mm scale plan to a page, but it would be cool to work on some complicated plans which fit on one sheet, perhaps with simple paper minis as well. I'm finding 6-7 inch square tiles for 25mm very dull - dungeoneering in cupboards. ;) But mainly because  I get a few queries about 15mm compatibility.

I picked up some 15mm minis from 15mm.co.uk because I'm a sucker for adventurers with backpacks and pack mules. These are the things which seperate adventuring parties from battlefield fodder. ;)
Unpainted, but demonstrating that it might just be acceptable in games like D&D for 1inch=10feet, which is a bit of a crowded fudge, but for RPGs it might be acceptable (where line of sight is much more basic, and figure height is less of an issue).
