The forum is here to share our ideas and inspire others. Personally I miss the old days of White Dwarf, Adventurer and Dragon, so when I write posts I try to make them similar to the articles I love reading in those old magazines - people writing about what they do in their hobby and how they do it and it's great to hear from other people doing like wise.

Back when me and Bobbie created The Lost and The Damned Forum in august of 2008 we did it because we wanted a place for us and our friends to discuss our hobby and show off our miniatures - in hindsight maybe a blog would have been more suited to that purpose, but the forum has (slowly) grown and prospered since those early days. Many people have joined and we've converted and painted lots of cool miniatures, written new rules for classic games and seen the birth many interesting projects - so I think making it a forum was the best decision in the long run. I like to think of it as 1 big mass-blog which everyone can contribute to and interact with each other via.

Yea the forum goes through it's quiet patches and it can be quiet saddening. During a recent period when I seemed to be the only one posting I came close to considering abandoning the forum in favour of a personal blog - but fortunately there was resurgence of activity and things have started to pick up again.

I'm not quite sure it's seasonal but there does seem to be pattern to activity levels around here.
My theory is as follows: People only want to post on a forum that appears to be active - so when they see there's only a few new posts, they don't feel so inspired to post, so we end up with fewer posts, which in turn causes a spiral effect of less people wanting to post and thus even less posts
However the opposite is also true - When people see a lot of new posts, they will inspired to post themselves which leads to more posts and more people wanting to post - the spiral is reversed!

Basically you'll get out what you put in

So my advice to anyone and everyone reading this is as follows: if you like what you see here and want to see more of it - do more of it yourself, make posts and others will too!
If you want to read about a subject on here, start a new thread and write about it yourself!
If you like what some else is doing, comment on their post and tell them - and don't worry if the post is old, most members will be happy to hear from you.

Lets all do our bit to keep the forum going for ourselves and for others, don't just use it to promote your own website or blog - contribute directly here and the whole can be much more than the sum of it's parts which might otherwise be scattered across the web isolated from each other
