The Alchemist

I believe this model is from Foundry and is probably part of a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde set. I picked up the model at a car-boot sale a few years ago along with a box of 1st and 2nd edition D&D modules and a few other random miniatures. Originally I planned to use him as an Alchemist NPC in my fantasy games, but on closer inspection I discovered he was wearing an anachronistic waist-coat and bow tie - which is cool if you happen to be a Timelord, but no good for a pseudo-late-medieval fantasy setting.
But I liked the model and began work on it (mounting it on a 25mm round base, filling out the base with milliputt, undercoating it, browning it and base-coating the skin), although it wasn't top of my priority list because I had no real use for it -  and so the model sat around on a shelf for quite a long time until the other day when I randomly picked up the model and decided to finish painting him and he ended up looking rather good.


 ^ While I was painting the face, my friend Jon pointed out to me that the mutton-chop sideburns make him look rather like Master Gibbs from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

I still have no immediate use for him, but I think he'd work well in Victorian Horror or Steam-Punk type game - maybe even Call of Call of Cthulhu game. Although having said what I said before about the model not fitting into my fantasy games, they have taken a little influence from me playing the Fable series of computer games - and thus at a push he could fit in amongst the richer, more advanced folk of the larger cities with their vaguely pre-Victorian style of dress.

No bonus picture this time - but to make up for it here's a song I rather like called The Alchemist, which come to think of would make a rather nice plot for a Lovecraftian style horror game
