I think I have two Deathblow magazines (were there many more?).  To be honest at least 50% of the content were reprints from the brief period White Dwarf were championing Warhammer Quest.  I'm sure I saw an article list.  
Maybe I could scan in the contents pages and you can pick what you think looks good?
Some of the characters are very disappointing (like the halfling whose special item is a "sticky bun")  Also I think there was an assassin or thief character - but again, no substitute for the D&D thief (which is what I was looking for).
The format was nice and compact though.

If you can somehow buy them or find a PDF it would be better.

This pages lists the alternative sources for the contents of DB1 (but you've probably seen this already...)  - but like you've suggested the compendium would be good starting point.  

Hmm.  There's a lot of pages to scan.  Not sure I'm in the mood for wholesale copyright piracy tonight.  Also it's at the other house...
