yes I own 2nd edition Warhammer and there are all kinds of RPG type rules along side the more recognizable battle rules.
It seems that in the early days Warhammer wasn't really intended to be a pure-wargame for fighting pitched battles between armies of equal points value and competitive gameplay ... of course that all changed with Ravening Hoards
