I sort of set it then as one of those final photo scenes where the Kamikaze pilot is about to get into his plane, maybe you picked up on that idea Bill?
Yup, I think that's exactly it. As adults I reckon we transverse the moral hinterlands which start somewhere when we're kids "bang, bang, you're dead" lots of running about and fun, through to the awe of technology, powerful planes, tanks and so forth, and then as we grow the squishy fragile human elements seep in, empathy with people caught up amidst the sheer hideousness of war, the shadows of Hiroshima and Auschwitz, mixed up with the pragmatism of army logistics, cultural perceptions, modern news items and then out again into the fun-escapist world or cool tech, other worlds, the art of the models, the thrill of those worlds nearing our own, that thrill being based in little fear triggers (?), the round-the-corner very real scenarios, the celebration of battle imagery, political art, the grainy the films from the past suddenly seeming relevant today. ... Okay I'm babbling now.

From now on I demand a lower standard of realism, lower quality paint jobs, and no references to icky history.
You've been warned. Failure to comply will result in a bill for my therapy.
