PROJECT: Manticore (4th Vehicle, 8th Battery, 728th Artillery Regiment seconded to 349th AF(R)

The 349th Assault Force (Recon) needed some extra muscle in the artillery department so I forked out for a Manticore.

this is actually a very good model with a very nice fit. Its a bit short on extras though. It was also very easy to paint but i think i might have gone a bit mad with the drybrushing of the scuff marks!






the ID panel shows this is the 4th vehicle of the 8th Battery, part of the 728th Artillery Regiment. The lightning flash indicates it has been inducted into the 349th AF(R) Battlegroup.






This vehicle has been fitted with a Heavy Flamer. In normal circumstances a Manticore would never be anywhere near the enemy, even to use a Heavy Bolter. However fighting within a AF(R) means heavy fire support is delivered at almost point blank ranges (relative to the more conventional Manticore's) so some form of point defence for anti infantry is essential. Also due to the limited number of payload missiles carried by the Manticore, once empty it can and has been used as a last ditch assault vehicle, helping to clear vital objectives at close ranges with its flamer.
