In honour of the new Blood Bowl section that Mortis has recenty given us, I felt it appropriate to mention that a PC/console version of the game is being produced.......

http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/#

I've just checked out the latest trailer and all I could think to myself was....... "They better bring this out over here........." because this looks like an amazingly awesome game. The platforms that are ebing catered for here are PC (obviously) but then also Nintendo DS (WTF?!) and Xbox 360 with full Xbox Live capabilities (take that you PS3 fanboys!!!).

Firstly, the teams.......all the major races are catered for here and are also previewed in the latest trailer.......from human running the endzone to Minotaurs ready to charge and Orks tackling hard and proptly fouling the ass off their downed opponant until they are just another stickly red substance dashed across the pitch. The pitches themselves look awesome surrounded by cheerleaders and musicians at the touch-lines to stands of crowds calling for blood in more languages that you can shake a codex at . The locations also include one for each race it would seem.

The gameplay itself has 2 definite modes. 'Old skool' mode that basically allows you to play the Blood Bowl board game in all it's turn-based glory in 3D redering, or you can give it a bit more urgency and a bit of a more modern, 'Madden-style' influence and play the game in real time rather than turn based!!!

The team customisation looks equally as incredible. The creation mode looks very clear, well presented and even more well thought out. You can see that they have definitely have thought about the GW fanbase for this game, and that the one thing wargamers prize amongst most else is personalisation and customisation. Well this game rams spadefuls of it down you're throat and then asks if you'd like some more.........with what looks like multi-leveling graphical and colour abilities, it's as easy to customise a team in this game as it is to do so with the minis themselves.

Offline you can then take your team from the training grounds, to the pinacle of any of the 'standard' tornaments in the Blood Bowl leagues as well as having the traditional 2 player games. Online.........oh my, oh my........online (either via xbox live or PC net connection) it gives the hint to full online leagues and tornaments, both user generated and official as well as just being able to get together with mates and having one-off games.

As far as rules go, I would say that it would have to take into account full rules changes that have happened with regards to the 'Living Rulebook' (currently on version 5) but I don't know.

On the whole, I love the look of this game and can't wait for it to arrive. Twinned with what's be being said about specialist re-releases elsewhere on the forums, this is definitely going to regain interest and enthusiasm in the game and could very well be another step towards a re-release of Blood Bowl........but who knows..........
Putting the romance back in Necromancy........
