ok everyone knows that when not within 12" of a warboss trolls are next to usless as they have a pitiful chance of passing their stupidity test so is it legal rule wise to stick a big boss into their unit so that they head the right direction?

When I last checked (which was 5th edition), units of Trolls could be lead by Heroes and Characters yes

As for the current edition (I think Warhammer is up to 8th now?) I haven't a clue but would assume it's still ok
