Watcha,
My name is Sam and I've been lurking on the forums for a few months now. I was originally draw in by a search for dungeon floor plans, and have found that I am one of the many who keep coming back to check Billiams progress and read some of Mortis' treatsies on dungeon crawling etc.. Since I now lie awake at night thinking about dungeons, I figured it was time to enter the melee and see what I could offer in return! I am a big fan of pre-mid 90s GW, starting with Talisman in the 80s and some tentative/unsuccessful D&D. Next step Space Hulk, Space Crusade, Heroquest, Epic and some crap attempts at painting citadel minis... But this is where table-top gaming lost its sheen for me partly due, I think, to the buisness plans of the larger companies like GW and Wizards. I used to be a big 2000AD reader in my yoot, and a love of the Slaine series has stuck with me. I also have quite a few ancient MTG cards hanging around. More recently I have gathered a few old Epic armies for painting and was instructed to buy the new edition of Space Hulk by my partner *ouch!*... okay it was me, but the basterds made me do it! I have a small amount of skill with art and programming, and I love trying to customise Heroquest (which I consider to be one of the greatest games extant) I'm constantly coming up with hackneyed ideas for my own Ultimate Dungeon Crawl systems. Look forward to bantering with you all, and generally having my horizons broadened! Over and out. |

Argh! Wandering Monster!
Welcome aboard Sam! Good to have you joining us from the shadows Sounds like your definitely one of us, I'm interested in hearing your ideas on adapting HeroQuest and any rules you might have come up with for dungeon crawling and looking forward to seeing your posts all over the forum! PS Thank you I've never had my barely coherent ramblings described as treasties before ('faeces' once or twice, but never treatsies).

Cheers for the welcome Mortis!
It feels official now- so I shall commence bashing your eyes with my posts! (didn't mean that to sound quite so gory) |

Hi Mate
Have you kept the old floor sprous off space hulk because me and Mortis will be working on some different floor plans using the jigsaw edges. Game on.

Alright there Mark
Yeah I kept them. Couldn't bear to throw the beautiful things out. I'll post them to you if you like, or I'm in the Bath area if you want to collect. It'd be great if they got used for something. As long as they go to a good home! |

I like the cut of this man's gib!
(We do see a lot of people checking out the floor plans thread, but they stay very quiet ... skulking in the shadows) Glad you've been ensnared and dragged aboard this ship of fools! "Mortis' treatsies on dungeon crawling" *grins* He's the dude with the XP! All ideas about hackneyed dungeon crawl systems will be welcomed here. There's definitely a "create, then pick up and play" atmosphere on this forum. What sort of programming do you do? |
Oi oi Billiam,
Heheh, yup! I love those floor plans. I find that they have tons of character and leave a lot of oxygen for the imagination to work. In fact I think I'll head over to that thread in a sec and leave a little comment For programming I like to use action script (flash). I find it surprisingly versatile and use it for making a few different things from games and databases to dice statistic simulator type thingamajigs. The dice statistic things might actually be interesting for anyone who is in to making their own dice combat systems, as they give a breakdown of the probability curves on rolls of multiple dice and a few other nifty tricks. When I figure out how to upload stuff like that maybe I'll put it up In the mean time I have a Space Crusade style event deck designed for Heroquest that I mean to write-up and share before the week is through. It'd be great to see what people think! Over and out. |

sounds useful, it may well help me with balancing out character types and weapons when writing new rules. You'll find the button for up loading files on the 'More Options' menu above the Message text box next to the '' menu ah I've been considering something similar for a while it'll be interesting to see what you've come up with, I look forward to seeing it

Cheers! I'll stick it up in the General forum with a little explanation on how to use it. I've knocked up a few sheets of 40 or so cards in total and pimped them using artwork from the original game and its expansions. Hopefully there shouldn't be a copyright issue as they aren't for profit and I've put a '© Milton Bradley' on each card. I thought I had better check if its okay before I post them though. If it is a problem then I'll Just post up the text! |

Post Away! Don't worry too much about copyright on here, I've used art from all over for my own custom cards, plus if we get any justified complaints about anything we can just take it down. (Besides HeroQuest is kinda a copyright grey-area due to it being owned by GW and MB)
