Warhammer Game-Books

Found out today from Jonathan Green (name drop!) that he's working on a Fighting Fantasy style Game Book for Black Library which will involve vampires (maybe as the Player Character) it has no title as yet and will be out before the end of the year.

and it turns out this isn't the first one Black Library have done ....

^ Herald of Oblivion (also by Jonathan) is one for all you Spaze Marhine fan out there, YOU are an Imperial Fists Terminator trapped alone aboard a Space Hulk, you must fight your way through more interesting 40k character and creatures to return to your battle brothers. If the idea of being a Spaze Marhine appeals to you, you'll love this book, but personally this book doesn't interest me (I'm sure Jonathan Green has done a good job of writing it though)

^ Beneath the City of the White Wolf, however looks like it's much more to my taste. YOU are a Knight of the Knights Panther order (Check out the classic John Blanche artwork used on the cover), armed only with wits, brawn and your trusty blade (Fighting Fantasy style!) you must try and stop a plot to destroy Middenheim and fight a bunch of Warhammer monsters along the way. Written by M.F. Bradshaw author of ... er ... nothing I can find easily on Google as some kind of reference point

^ and also like Fighting Fantasy these books are illustrated inside with some rather nice black and white artworks

Looks like these books are going to be Black Library Direct Exclusives which means sadly you won't see them in your local all-good-book-stores next to the Fighting Fantasy re-prints and you'll be paying the likes of £13.00 (more than twice the £5.99 you'd be paying for an FF re-print) Beneath the City of the White Wolf is 288 pages making it a bit thicker than The Warlock of Firetop Mountain (192 pages) but I'm not sure that really justifies the cost.

Billiam Babble - I'm sure you'll have something to add ...

Very interesting and intriguing!

I want stats, game mechanics, numbers of sections etc.

Hello Mr Green!

Ooh, a website!  *will go to check after this post*

I'm not too worried about prices for game-books these days -Ever since I decided to back the print-on-demand-Lulu bandwagon I'm happy to put my local Waterstones and WHSmiths out of business.

I've just seen the working title for the vampire book 'The fall of the house of von Carstein.' sounds good
