TOW Centurion

For the Emperor! ??? hang on...  Senatus Populusque Romanus!!

I thought it about time that I done some painting as i've been totally bogged down with band commitments, TT stuff, and choppy/sticky/sculpty things lately. Here is another quicky that I started a couple of nights ago just for fun.

The colour scheme was kinda obvious really given his occupation, though his under-garments came out rather blue/grey in the pics which is strange, as it now looks a little 'baby' compared to the pure grey IRL. lol
(must add some browns in later methinks)

I went with the snow thang purely because he looked rather well wrapped up with all that fur and stuff, and only noticed the studio job had done the same last night after I had finished up. It turns out he's not called a 'Forgelord' as was stickered up in my FLGS, but some wierd roman name that translates VERY badly from Spanish to Latin to English!

Was chuffed with his eyes, which I successfully painted iris' in for the first time in ages (used to do it well when I used to painted as a kid),and the Eagle freehand wasn't too much of a chore either tbh. Had a couple of hours spare and though what the heck, got excited by it once finished, and slapped the snow on before I realised i'd forgotten to do the FH lettering I wanted! Derrr...

Anyway, enough rambling Orki!

Hope you likey peeps. :)

Re: TOW Centurion

isn't that a Spartan rather than a Roman though?

Mortis - Nah, hes a high ranking Centurion of the first cohort (or so say TOW anyway!). I done a bit of research and it all seems mostly accurate.

And thanks chaps. :)

I guess he looks a little Greek because of the sculpted breastplate but they don't seem to be uncommon with higher ranking Romans. Very nice model and a great paint-job, the colours in the cloak and the freehand are very nice. I guess the snow means he's off in Gaul fighting the barbarians?

it's not just that, the lion-hide furs reminds me of a model of Leonadis that another company (I think Crocodile Games) do.
I guess this guy could pass for Roman or Greek, for me a Round or Tower Shield would swing it either way.
Whatever the culture it's a great miniature and well painted

Re: TOW Centurion

Thanks Umboman. It's just bi-carb and PVA, mixed in different ratios and applied in various ways. :)
