Being a huge fan of little games companies i found this little doozy on Kallistra's website...
Space Dreadnought 3000 - Looks like a beauty of a game to experiment with too.
Unfortunately i have no idea how the rules work as i have not ordered any of this stuff yet.
When i do get the rulebook i can post some more info about the game right here... be patient comrades.

The Space Dreadnought 3000 range of ships are manufactured in the UK
using lead free pewter, and come complete with a two part pewter display stand.
There are currently more than 60 different spaceship models in the range
depicting 7 different galactic forces plus merchant vessels.
The models can be used with most spaceship combat systems,
and are used by gamers throughout the world.

Strangely one of the few big spaceship manufacturers I've never ordered from. They look like great models, I've seen some really nice paint jobs on these over the years. I love the look of the Altaran ships personally.

Those Altaran ships do look very impressive i agree.
The Earth Federation ships could almost pass for Imperial Star Destroyers. lol
You can get a whole fleet for next to nothing so this is a very low entry level game to set up.
Of course you're gonna need a box or 2 of black HEX boards to make you're spacefield.
The thing that makes me wanna go for this is the potential to add space stuff from all kinds of other games.
Kallistra have made 2 space stations for Space Dreadnought 3000.



Need to order the rulebook before i can further comment on the gameplay.
As usual i would probably change some of the rules to make it easier to play.
Then i would tweak each faction to give them individual powers, weapons, strengths & weaknesses etc.
There is even a selection of Merchant Freighter Vessels to spice up scenarios.
Along with Organic Pirate ships to raid & plunder them...

Considering using different colour metallic paints on each faction too. See what happens i guess.
