Some Chaos Warriors (Speed painting)

These guys are some chaos warriors I've painted some months ago.
I found them in one of my lost boxes hidden in my Hobby Cellar. These guys were in company of a couple of beastmen that I will paint too one day in the future.

Like I said in this post, the bases are decorated with little tiles glued on and painted like stones.

For the miniatures I tryed a "Speed painting + Cheap stuff" approach:
1. Red undercoated with an acrylic matt spray (DIY shop)
2. Gloves and boots painted in grey (DIY shop)
3. Some detail in golden and brown (DIY shop)
4. Entire model washed with GW Gryphonne Sepia
5. When the wash dried I painted the axe, horns, glove with GW Chainmail (the chainmail was drybrushed on a layer of black paint) and then I washed them with diluted black (DIY shop).
6. Last step: acrylic transparent matt sparay (DIY shop)

I'm quite satisfied, I spent few money and time for an effective result (despite this isn't my best paintjob).

Re: Some Chaos Warriors (Speed painting)

I love the way the bases are done. I've read your other post on them, but I just think it's really inventive, and a great way to recognise models as your own. Plus, the amount of work put into making the bases up really shows on these models.

The speed painting technique seems to have worked too. I'm no expert, but they look cool.

hmm not bad, if a little rough looking in places, the Gryphonne Sepia and diluted black paint seems to have provided all the shading you need - it strikes me that this method is just a step up from using those 'quick shade' varnish type things that have become popular in recent years
This sort of method works well on simple figures like these WHQ Chaos Warriors and can be quite useful for speedy terrain painting - I recently did some 40k ruins for THW by spraying them grey, painting a few details in bright colours and then giving them a coat of Army Painter medium strength 'shading varnish' and they came out ok, not brilliant, but passable (I'll post pictures some time)

Anyway back to your figures - nice to see you haven't shied away from doing classic red Chaos Warriors and the tiles on the bases look very nice

Wow, you did a great job considering the speed! I take hours to paint just one mini :P
Looking forward to your beastmen :)
PS: these arent HQ chaos warriors, are they?

no they are not HeroQuest Chaos Warrior, but the very similar Warhammer Quest Chaos Warriors. I have pictures of both side by side posted Here
