Ripper Swarm Stats

Stevo
I'm looking at creating a Tyranid Hive to replace all Aliens, except Genestealers, in Space Crusade.
I've seen Mortis' work on the Screamer-Killer, Lictor, Broodlord, Hormagaunt and Termagants. All good stuff.

At this stage I'm trying to create SC stats for a Ripper Swarm, so went to the W40K data and calculated its stats as M:8, AV:1, RF:-, HTH:1R1w, LP:3.
The problem is that these stats are the same as Mortis' Hormagaunt except for 3 life points instead of 1!!  I'd prefer that each miniature is unique therefore offering the players a unique challenge.

Has anyone done this before and can offer any advice, on Ripper Swarm stats, or the Tyranid Hive concept in general?

Personally I make a point of not trying to convert 40k stats to SC.

Ah ripper swarms - I never really got around to doing much with rippers despite acquiring a good number of the bitey little bastards.

Here's my un-playtested idea of how to handle them in Space Crusade

Move: 8 Squares
Armour: 0
Shooting: -
Hand-to-hand: 1R  -- (1 attack per remaining Life Point, stack or divide dice between targets in the same way as shooting the Las-Cannon)
Life Points: Equal to number of Rippers Represented on Base

If you already got them based up for 40k, on a round (or square) 40mm base they should take up 4 squares like the Dreadnought (most people seem to have at least 5-6 per base)
However if you have the option to, mount 3 Rippers on a 25mm square base if you are just using them for Space Crusade and you'll get better tactical flexibility out of them when it comes to movement
You could even attach the little buggers to their base via magnets and remove them as Life Points are lost

Thanks for the stats.  I'll give them a try.
I agree with the 25mm bases. I've already ripped the rippers off the 40mms ready for remounting.

Stats: M:8, AV:-, RF:-, HTH:1R per LP , LP:3
Cost = 10 points.

Well, I finally finished painting my Rippers Swarms but have not started playtesting their suggested rules in Space Crusade.

I've picked up a project playtesting a boardgame.  It's a remake of the original Avalon Hill Starship Troopers (1976) boardgame, not the crappy movie stuff.  I've always liked this game so I though that I'd get on board.

Anyway, all this playtesting and my newly painted Rippers has got me thinking of creating a game.  What about  "PRAWNS vs CRABS" ?
