This retro clone is a massive tome.
Dark Dungeons - download page 343 pages of rules. EDIT: Revised Link: http://darkdungeonsblog.wordpress.com/downloads/ Within OGL/d20 SRD guidelines and retro clone precedents that have gone before, the authour of Dark Dungeons has taken a very brave step and incorporated many, if not all, of the rules from the D&D Basic, Expert, Companion, Masters and Immortals sets from the 1980s/90s. (possibly similar to the Rules Cyclopedia which I've never seen myself) In Companion and Masters there are many rules which should be applied at the start of a campaign, such as progressive weapon skills and damage, extra armour and equipment and so forth, not to mention high level play. I've only read a few pages, but I thought I should share the fun. |

Another retro clone!!
I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding it hard to keep up with this all!

Nice retro clone! Actually is the Rules Cyclopedia clone, maybe is more nice than the original work (RC is a great reference work, but it has a lot of bugs too).
And... ehy dudes... WOW!!! With DD when I reach the 8th level as a cleric I can REALLY cast spells!!! MUHUAHAHAHHAHA!!!!

The author of Dark Dungeon was asking for designs for character sheets. I was going to post my submission to his blog - but he's changed that. And tonight I'm The Piazza forums aren't loading. So I'm stuck with this character sheet and nowhere to post it.
So I thinks, let's post it on LatD and then at least I'll get closure for the night. The character sheet can be adapted to other forms of Basic style D&D. PDF (400K) Dark Dungeons Character Sheet by Billiam Babble EDIT: Preview Image: The weapons art is from the game - the author is pretty specific about the look of the rules. Some of the hand drawn boxes are hideously stretched but I rather like the sort of rough letra-set quality to the sheet. ;) |

For those that are interested, retro-D&D-clone Dark Dungeons is back on Lulu in it's second printing. I've actually ordered a hard back, which is very unlike me, but I've never owned a copy of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia (although I do I have the BECMI box sets which have similar content), since it's a whopping 344 pages I thought perhaps the hard cover would make it more manageable.
Author's order page, with links to Lulu - he makes almost no profit on this, apparently: http://darkdungeonsblog.wordpress.com/printed-books/ |
