Regarding miniatures...

As Ive talked about earlier, Ive been running a fantasy campaign (Kingmaker). Recently I decided to go full on with props and tabletopstuff like terrain, miniatures, etc - but Im a bit stumped on the miniatures :/
Namely painting...
Ive been staring at the small buggers for hours, but I cant figure out how to make them look nice.
Does anyone have any quick advice, or some site with good tips (videos, books youve read, etc.)? - I have to say, Im not looking for epic quality looks, just something passable.

a few quick tips of my own:

Always start with a Black Undercoat, no Black Undercoat = No Shading

Build up the colour from the Undercoat, use at least 2 shades of each colour

Learn to dry-brush, dry-brushing is one of the most useful and effective techniques for highlighting, no matter what some so-called 'pro-painters' will tell you (in fact I've found that most people who dismiss dry brushing as bad technique can't/don't do it properly)

Citadel's 'Delvian Mud Wash' can be very useful for extra shading but don't over use it

Although most people will use Citadel paints they can be quite expensive - Coat d'Arms and Privateer Press's P3 are less costly alternatives and just as good

Thank you, looks like a lot of info there :) Ill try to cram as much as possible into my brain, hopefully something sticks.

Already looking at the speedpainting thing, I hope thats an "easy" starter technique.
