Recently painted stuff

Been doing a bit of painting recently. Mostly undead stuff but other bits and pieces too. Apologies for the crap pictures my camera obviously wasn't in the mood today.

WIP Heresy Ghouls:

Closeups:

Ghoul King (Strigoi vampire in WFB):

Skellies! (mix of mantic bodies and GW heads and weapons, apart from the Wight which is all GW):

Closeups of the same:

Lastly from L to R: Ranger for Lyra's Mortis Quest character a Reaper figure with some modification, A conversion of the old Neferata vampire model, and a random Ral Partha paladin.

Re: Recently painted stuff

Nice drybrushing!

The Heresy ghouls look... Well... Fucking gross to honest mate

You gonna clean those bases up?

I likes the skellies a lot. The GW heads were a good choice. I find the Mantic ones a little too stylized or something.

Yeah I tend to do base clean-up when I get around to basing, which is rarely.

The Mantic heads are ok, they've got eyeballs though which isn't really how I want mine to look. Its pretty simple to replace them though.

Very nice work! The ghouls are really nice!
Mmmh! The last paintjob (the warrior on the right) intrigues me! Do you will post any other pics? I'm curious, it seems that the shield is really cool!

Excellent stuff dude, I particularly like the Ranger and Paladin

since Lyra's character is ready now we'll have to get you over for another game some time soon. Maybe a Ghoul-based adventure? (I've got some Mantic and Citadel Ghouls to get finished) would you like to GM?

I quite like the stylised Mantic skulls, they remind me of the Deadite skeletons from Army of Darkness (the 3rd Evil Dead film)

There are some silly heads in the mantic sets too (the one I bought had a skellie head with axe wedged in and another with a crow on top), I'd have gone with the evil dead styling if I didn't already have a load of skellies with hollow eye sockets.

A Ghoul dungeon is a possibility, I want to get some of the metal warhammer ghouls but they're a fortune on the GW site (£8 for 3 fuck right off!), guess its ebay for them. Guess we could get some Z's in there too.

I'm going to re-take some photos of these guys as these are really poor (there was a big fingerprint on the lens it seems!)

Sounds good dude, I tend to put Skeletons rather than Zombies in with Ghouls, because I figure the Ghouls would have eaten all the flesh off the 'fresh' corpses that would have become Zombies. But I did once run an encounter where 3 Ghouls were fighting over a Zombie trying to rip it's limbs off and eat it.

For more Ghouls check out the Mantic's ones, which are similar to the current Citadel plastic ones (but far, far cheaper) or  if you want to stick to just metal ones try Reaper's Necropolis range. Ral Partha also do a kind of orcish looking ghoul in the DSA monster range which might be interesting, also consider Giant Bats and Giant Rats as additional monsters in a Ghoul-themed dungeon (think H.P Lovecraft's 'Rats In The Walls')

Fantastic!

He would make a great sci-fi-type random encounter -

You find a man in the back of a cave who says he has been asleep for the last 700 years. His apparent joy at being awake suddenly turns to horror as he exclaims "Oh God I slept too long!" before cackling insanely and launching at you.

Ahahaha! Ew. Just the level of commitment to gross detail we have come to expect and respect from you Mortis.  Brilliant.
