Random Scotia Grendel Pieces

Here's a bunch of pieces from Scotia Grendel which I painted and took pictures of last year and never got round to posting, so I thought I'd post them all together

First up here a small row-boat

This boat came as part of a set which also contained a wooden Quayside/Dock with a few barrels and sacks ect. It's just big enough to carry 2 models on 25mm bases or 3 models on 20mm bases, meaning 2 of them could carry a party of adventurers on a river trip.

Here's 2 rather unkempt Tavern Beds, the smaller one works quite well in dungeons as furniture for guard rooms and barracks, like the Orc and Goblin rooms at the beginning of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain while the larger one is used in better furnished dungeon rooms and will eventually see use in a Tavern setting.

Finally here's a Treasure Pile ... well 3 chests, 2 skulls and a whole lot of coins ... there's also a dagger and a goblet in there too

These are all great!

How do you do the wood on the boat? Is a black base then a sort of brushing over, or more like a wash?

The wood on all these was painted by dry brushing successively lighter shades of brown over a black under coat
eg: Scorched brown, Bestial Brown, Snake Bite Leather and then Bubonic Brown. The trick is to dry brush across the grain of the wood to make sure you pick up all the high points.
