Hi Folks,
I re-discovered my old space crusade after almost 20 years and am currently 'absorbed' by this fantastic board game. Do some of you have suggestions for point values of space marines (just found suggestions for the equipment cards) - and the rest of the SC miniatures - and would like to play a more tactical set up of SC (So far, I do not have not played 40k yet - or any 40k references) Thanks a lot for your help - and this great forum with so many awesome resources. Hi Forian,
Using the documentation that you have previously seen, a Marine w/bolter is worth 5 points; the same as in the basic SC game. As far as what would be an appropriate point limit?; well that could depend on the type of game that you playing. A). If you using the basic SC game structure of 1, 2, or 3 squads verses the aliens, then the number of points needs to be enough to create any of the standard squads. The most expensive squad is a Commander w/PF & PS (25), 3 x Marine w/HW (6) and Marine w/bolter (5) = 48 points. Now if the player purchases a commander with a cheaper weapon then he could purchase extra marines; eg Commander w/Heavy Bolter (15), 3 x Marine w/HW (6) and 3 x Marine w/bolter (5) = 48 points. B). If playing the game as in A), but the squad also needs to purchase 1 order and 4 equipment cards then give the squad an extra 17 points; that is the squad can now spend a total of 65 points on marines, weapons, orders and equipment. C). If playing the Campaign Game using A) and B) then a squad can spend an additional 3 points for each "Rank above Sergeant" and each "Honour Badge" acquired. Therefore a squad at full rank and full honours has 86 points to spend. D). If you are not using the basic SC game structure then you can use the points to create a balanced game of any number of squads including Orkz Mobs, Tyranids, Termiator or Scout sqauds of equal points. Below is a complete list of my points for all miniatures found in SC, its expansions and White Dwarf articles.
