There was no way on earth the Crew Chief was going to give "Donkey" Punch and his gang of shit-thick Ogryns a brand new Chimera, and all the ones in for repair were expected to go back to their units once fixed. It would be bad form indeed to re-assign wagons to other units while in the garage, especially to a supernumary unit. But there it was, plain as day, signed by Van Xur and then COUNTERSIGNED by Biakal.
Everard was getting a Chimera, that was certain- but where from? He sat back, thinking hard. Since the new Mech/Techs arrived a couple had come to his attention as workshy. And there was always the Dark Angel...
"Follow me, Sergeant!" Everard Punch filed out behind the Crew Chief and watched as he ordered five young techs to follow him.
Out the back of the hangar was a small compound full of old, rotting and rusting armour plates, tracks that were sort of useable and other nik-naks, to bad to use but to good to bin. And under them all was the glint of a vehicle- Dark Angel. A chimera so rough it looked like it had been used to stir soup. three holes were punched into its right flank where a lucky heavy bolter burst put it out of its misery so many years before. Dark Angel was always a problem child, a real "friday afternoon-er". Filthy, patched but Crew chief knew, salvagable. A few years ago he had even used it for a test bed for a new turret armament he had in mind. Only in desparate times would he consider doing anything but put a torch to this lump and the second that docket was signed it got desparate.
Punch effortlessly cleared the girders and plates off the top and cleared a space either side. It was in worse shape then the Chief had thought and for a second he was worried even Ogryns would be repulsed by the rust and grime.
the rear ramp was down and Everard Punch stomped inside, stooping under the low roof.
"yer," he said, a broad grin on his face "not bad fer me fost set o' wheels!"right... does anyone remember
my old salamander scout i made many moons ago. well, i got to realise i needed another chimera and i hatched a plan to re convert the salamander.
my first problem was i had chopped up the old upper hull and used the turret for something
else. However when i got the Trojan i got the conversion kit, and then a complete chimera box. this cost me an extra £4 but meant i could make good the old tank which by now was looking pretty rough armond the gills.
first i stripped all the extranious bits off and took it back to the basic chimera lower hull, then dropped on the new upper hull. i experimented with the weapons and fitted a twin linked heavy stubber, a non codex weapon but in friendlies should be fun. it also compliments the Ogryns fighting style of charge and then punch. its heavy stubbers should provide good cover fire.
i then resprayed the lot, then dirtied it up big time. drybrushing with boltgun metal, and then over the top with tin bitz, then washed to fuck with dirty water and devlan mud.
i wanted from day one for this to be for the ogryns to rattle around in, which is why its dirty and rough- you wouldn't give em a new one!
think i might have over done it so you decide....!
oh, and as for TAFT.... Thick As Fuck Truck!
