As the second dawn of the the morning broke, and the systems other sun crept over the horizon, the Ork "sentry" stirred from his nap and decided to check the plains in front of him. He belowed for his "teliskope" and a grot faithfully dragged it to him. with a brief kick of thanks he raised it to his eye and as it swam in to focus, he got a brief glimpse of orange and the sound of gunfire in his ears before his light was snuffed forever by a stubber round from a buggy driving hard and fast at his lookout post. five more RATs moved out of file behind and into extended line, each thundering down the runway of the Ork airbase. troops lept from the middle deck and ran to each fighta and bomma, placing charges under the wing roots. the RATs themselves formed a firebase on the runway, pouring fire into the crude Orky buildings and the small groups trying to form a ragged defence.
Eight minutes after they entered the airfield, five RATs were leaving and one sat burning on the tarmac, scuttled after being immobilised. twelve fightas and nine bommers also sat, wrecked. The lead RAT, 472186 driven by Sgt Lars "Furious" Jorge and his gunner, Cpl. Howell Kirk, headed the convoy away from the smoking airbase...

well, here it is- the Rapid Assault Transport. made from a LOT of bits, as well as the majority of the land speeder storm kit, which i still hold is probably the best kit GW do, fact. more info on the building of this can be found here.

i rekon this is safe as fuck, and am well chuffed with it. there are some amazing details in ti tthat mae me very happy, like the red toolbox stowed on the running plates, the weapons stored in the middle section and the crew.

 in game it counts as a Centaur carrier,

fast
transport capacity 5
11,10,10
50 points (including mandatory extra armour)

which makes a nice option for a command squad instead of a chiemra. i imagine it would be nice for a Straken taxi, being fast it gets him intot he mix quick snap.

Wow that's looking great. I've always had a thing for land speeder buggies though, I remember one from a blood angels army years ago that was in red dwarf that looked really nice.

You could probably scrounge the bits from the various bits websites to build more. It'd probably cost a fair amount though.

That said, I noticed a few unsightly mold lines that I have to mention D:

i got some from ramshackle games just before xmas for a converation that never workedout so i mite do a halftrac with the triangle track or something with 4 tracks insted

I find the tracks from RoboGear vehicles very useful for that sort of thing

When I saw your WIP and I liked it, but I didn't play WH40k yet.
But now I'm WH40k addict and I actually understand the work you've made, and now I can appreciate this conversion even more, great job!  
+ Other planes lie beyond the reach Of normal sense and common roads But they are no less real Than what we see or touch or feel. +
