PROJECT: Platoon Command Squad, Dog Platoon

shown above is the platoon commander. he has a bolter, a holster which could have any pistol type weapon in, and some cool head bionics.

the head is from the baneblade kit i bought the other year, the body is from the standard cadian HQ set, and the bolter is a SM scout bolter, and i think it looks acey Mc'bongos.

the squad is just four guardsmen with a flamer each. I am toying with giving the platoon some marker to identify them as a grounp, like one shoulderpad painted red or something, but i will decide on that later. if i do nothing i can still use them as veterans if the need arises

normally the trousers would be the same colour as the top half, like all guardsmen in my new colour scheme, but it just looked too much. like he was in pyjamas. so i did the pants vhardon granite with a drybrush of light grey then white.

Nice, I like the idea of a whole squad armed with just Flamer Throwers

Very nice and cleanly done. Do like the Lt.'s coat and trousers, very nicely painted and I think you were right to go off colour scheme for him.

Flamers have got a lot better with the new pre-assault fire phase in 6th huh? Don't want to be assaulting a squad that's going to lay 4D3 automatic hits on you unless you have to.

Platoon ID would be cool, I tend to go for it, even if you do use them in other squads occasionally I think mixed insignia looks better than none, soldiers get re-formed in to ad-hoc squads in battle and rarely have the time to change badges.

That's one of my favourite parts about painting minis, designating squads/leaders. It must be the OCD in me coming out. I have coloured kneecaps or coloured stripes on kneecaps to designate squad types and numbers. I reckon a red shoulder plate would look boss.
